A/N Guess who's back! Seeing all the love my other story received makes this announcement a little harder, due to the fact that I was away for so long I will not being contuning you that story, but I will be rewriting it, this is the updated version and I hope you guys like this one as much as you like the other one. I'm going through now and rereading what I wrote to hopefully be inspired again and give that story a new life, thank you all so so much for waiting, please let me know what you think.
Vampires, demons, and werewolves, and beasts that people though were legends roamed the city streets among ordinary humans without them even knowing, lurking in the shadows waiting for their next kill. Not all of these creatures were bad, not all of them were good, some wanted peace while others wanted blood; and that is where she came in. She was a hunter, she was the youngest in the group, at only eighteen years old she was trained, skilled, and lethal. She studied hard after she lost her parents to the sprites of Konoha Lake; though they were small they were deadly. They would grant your every wish only to turn on you in the end; their victims were often young couples or just young people in general. They lured them with lies and empty promises and that's how they got her parents, her mother was ill and her father was willing to do anything to help her, even if it meant losing his life to save hers but in the end it took both of them.
"Sakura, what do you make of this?" She turned as Ino was bent over the latest body to be dumped in the alleyway.
"Vampire, or that's what it looks like but the spacing between the teeth marks is off, and uneven." She put on a glove getting closer, the teeth marks weren't those a vampire but two needle marks instead; whoever killed this woman wanted them to believe that it was a vampire.
"Why would they make it look like a vampire attack?" Ino stood up pulling the gloves off, throwing them in the dumpster.
"You do realize you just threw your gloves away in a crime scene right?" she laughed as the blonds eyes widened, "There's been a few rumors that a local game has been killing woman and framing the vampires for the kill to get the police off their trail and I'm starting to think that's exactly what this is."
She asked Ino to call the police and alert them that it wasn't something supernatural responsible for the death of that girl, she was young but her body was worn down and it was evident that she was a drug user. That itself was a sign that a vampire didn't kill her, rouge vampires like fresh clean blood, not the blood of an infected druggie. She ran a hand through her long pink hair letting out a deep sigh, this kind of thing upset her. She was so much younger than the bodies she came across, she couldn't help but wonder what she would be like if she hadn't set her mind on becoming a hunter.
Being a hunter wasn't even that great of job, the hours were long; the job itself was thankless just because people know these creatures are out there they don't like to admit that they are real and that they could be the next victim. She often worked alone as did most hunters, but she didn't mind working with Ino. Ino was the one person she would work with and that's only because she's known the blond since preschool, the blond insisted on being her best friend and that was all she wrote. She walked down the street, looking up at the moon she could tell it was only 10 p.m.
"It's going to be a long night." She sighed.
She was in tight blue jeans, worn out converse and a simple black V-neck shirt; she had a book containing different ways to take down anything she came across. She had a katana tied to a belt loop on her jeans; the handle was wrapped with red cloth, with a hilt littered with cherry blossoms running all the way down the black sheath. The blade itself was covered with a ruins some for power, some for speed and some to strengthen her blade, using elemental attacks like she did caused great stress on the blade itself and certain things needed to be done in order to keep it from snapping.
She grabbed the handle and turned when she heard footsteps following, "Who's there?"
A snake ran across the alley, she jumped back slightly if there's one thing she hated it was snakes "What's wrong girl, you don't like snakes?"
"That voice." She whispered, she knew that voice and it wasn't good.
Orochimaru was responsible for the deaths of thirteen hunters in the area; he was able to do all of this in matter of months. His weapon of choice was snakes, he was a powerful warlock and he used his powers to hunt down the very things that hunted him down. It was the ultimate game of cat and mouse, where the mouse wins. Every hunter in the area was under the orders to run if they came across him, they were not to engage and she didn't plan on trying to fight him, she jumped grapping the fire escape above lifting herself up and running up the metal stairs.
"Oh, I hate it when they run." Waving his hand he started to float, the air rushed around him as he flew upwards.
"Of course you can fly, this wouldn't be a fair fight unless you could freaking fly." She gritted her teeth together as she made it to the roof, without hesitate she jumped.
Landing on her feet she ran to the ledge jumping to the next building, the air rushed by as she jumped and landed on her feet again. She dared a glance over her shoulder and he wasn't far behind, he was fast but she was faster. Flipping over the edge she dropped down to the ground ducking into a bar, she shut the door and turned around only to realize she had walking right into a werewolf bar.
"Oh shit." She muttered, she looked outside and back at the glowing yellow eyes that stared her down trying to figure out which one was worse in the situation, "I'm not here to cause trouble, I jus-"
A hand came through the door grabbing her by her shirt ripping her back through the door and slamming her into the wall of the building behind her. Her eyes widened as the air left her lungs, she sank to the floor looking up at the man that was about to kill her, there was no one around that was going to save her, that was one thing they taught her in school. Don't get caught up in a situation you can't handle on your own, because in this world there was no such thing as back up; it was kill or be killed.
She moved to grab her katana but her hand was caught in his grasp, he squeezed her hand breaking several bones, she let out a pained cry as he let go. She cradled her hand close to her body; she was still young; although skilled she wasn't skilled enough to fight someone as deadly as him.
She watched in horror as he started to summon one of his snakes, she felt the cool body of the summon wrap around her waist only stopping after it was around her shoulders. The white snake looked her up and down and then at him waiting for an order, she felt the body slowly getting tighter soon it was hard to breath.
"One of my favorite things is watching the life being squeezed out of a beautiful hunter, too bad you're so young. You would've made a great hunter." Grabbing her face so she was forced to look at him, she grunted and hissed as the snake constricted her movements.
She could feel the bones in her body getting ready to snap at any second, she cried out in pain unable to take it anymore. She could feel people watching her die, she knew none of them were going to help her but she was hoping against all odds that someone would. She didn't want to die in an alleyway, she didn't want to die like this, and she was only eighteen she didn't want to die at all; at least not yet.
She could taste the blood in her mouth as her vision grew darker, "Orochimaru!"
A yellow blur filled her line of sight as the pressure around her body stopped, she could feel herself falling forward unable to catch herself. She waited for the impact that never came; she opened her eyes to see a red eyes man looking down at her, before she could blink they were on a roof a few blocks away.
"Naruto, what the hell are you doing?" a voice hissed as he laid her on the roof, she grunted as he tried to set her down gently, "You do know you just saved a hunter right?"
"I'm aware of what she it, I couldn't just stand there and watch that man squeeze the life out of her. Look at her Sasuke, she's so young," he paused looking at his fellow friend and back at the green eyes girl fighting for her life in front of him, "She shouldn't even be out her, alone."
"Backā¦pocket." She grunted, unable to move her arms or upper body she was hoping he would help her just a little more.
She let out a small cry as he moved her hips to get to the small back hidden in her back pocket, he pulled it out unraveling the cloth around the glass jar he plucked one of the black round pills out of the bottle and into her mouth. Before long she could wiggle her fingers, she started to move her arms and tried to sit up with a little help from the one called Naruto. She looked him up and down and realized he was a demon and his moody friend was a vampire, she looked at the pair a little confused.
"Since when are vampires and demons friends?" she slowly stood up regaining her balance she offered a small smile to the blond, "Thank you, for helping me."
He nodded, "Why are you out here, you're only eighteen and they know how young you are and they are going to target you."
"I knew the risks when I decided to come out here three years earlier than anyone else, believe it or not I can handle myself when I'm not facing the god of warlocks." She snapped back.
"The god of warlocks? Is that what you people are calling, he's no god. He's a monster" he snapped.
"I know he's a monster, every hunter in the area and that comes into the area knows he's a monster and has been order not to attack the damn thing. We can't touch him, we can't even out run him, and I'm the fastest there is and he still caught me. How do we fight something like that?"
She crossed her arms, "What why do you even care, you do know im a human and that im a hunter right?"
She watched his red eyes softened and turned blue, "I know you're a human and I know you're a hunter trained to kill beast like me but all I want right now is peace and the for that man to rot in the ground somewhere, no matter how hard I try I can never get close to him, let alone stop him. I'm at a loss right now, I don't even know what to do against him other than run and that isn't something that's easy to do. "
"I still don't understand how he caught me; I was so far ahead of him and then boom he was right there. I know he didn't see when I went, I know he didn't see which bar I stumbled in to." She looked down at her jeans noticing movement she pulled her pant leg up and wrapped around her let was a tiny little brown snake.
Sasuke reached down ripping the snake off of her leg, "So that's how he does it, he releases a snake and then distracts his victims as it crawls up their legs or where ever it can go. That's how he knew what bar you were in."
"Oh, that's dirty." Inching away from the snake in Sasuke's hand, "But why me, why waste time on a newbie like me?"
"You're actually very well known among the outsiders, did you think that you being only eighteen and passing all the exams to be a hunter would go unnoticed? Besides, what was that little black pill I gave you?" she knew that question but she was hoping she could avoid it.
"It's a pill a I created to heal all internal wounds, if you look closely all bruises and cuts on the outside are there but I made those to combat the internal damage one can take when fighting a rouge. My mother was killed by sprites, they tore her body up from the inside out and there was nothing anyone could do except watch her die and that's not something I ever want to see happen again." She looked away for a moment, it wasn't often she told people about what happened to her mother and she couldn't figure out why she had told them. Maybe it was because they saved her life so she felt like she could at least give them something in return.
"Does it only work on humans?" Sasuke stepped forward getting a little too close.
"I haven't been able to try it on anyone other than myself, so I wouldn't know what it could do to a demon or a vampire. I don't really have either one of those lying around to use as a lab rat." She replied, one hand on the hilt of her sword.
"I'm not going to attack you Sakura, if I wanted too I would've done so already." She stood there confused as he spoke her name.
"How do you know my name, I never told either of you my name." she drew her sword, flames danced around the blade as she waited for an answer.
"Well that didn't work." Sakura watched as Sasuke's eye began to spin and in the same moment she felt her body collide with the rough roof under her.
Her breathing was heavy, fear washed over her as he stepped closer moving the hair out of her face, "I need you for something."
He picked her up while Naruto grabbed her katana, dashing off towards the words her head lulled as she looked up at the night sky. The moon was full, the sky was clear not a cloud in sight; she didn't know where she was going all she could do was keep her eyes on the moon.
