*Logan.*

She watched him leave. Light and shadows snaked through the murky
water, forming a twisted silhouette of his retreating back.

*Remember me!*

She knew it was too much to ask. After all, she wasn't able to do the
same for him, not until it was too late.

Her last thoughts were achingly lucid, the molecules of the
adamantium that had ravaged through her body were too large to enter
her blood brain barrier. And though her arteries no longer carried
oxygen, her healing factor was able to sustain her synaptic pathways
for minutes longer than a normal human.

But for those moments, there was nothing she could do when she saw
the abandoned facility crumbling before her eyes. Nor was she able to
stand and face the incoming rush of icy water. Yuriko would have
liked to seen her demise head on. Yet, she knew as the world darkened
before her, that the adamantium had won, the death blow struck by the
near freezing temperature of the river that she was now at the bottom
of.

Then there was light.

She could feel heat caressing faintly against her, a feathery touch.
Bubbles rose all around her, reminding her of all things, champagne.

*The thing about adamantium is, you need to keep it in liquid form...*

And she could see...water glittering all about her with a silver
sheen. And she could feel...the heat becoming an unbearable burn. She
didn't have time to wonder as she found herself swimming away, loose
ribbons of glittering gray fluttering away from her healing flesh. It
was only when she realized she was still alive that she looked back,
and saw a pair of red wings fading into the depth.
