Takes place after Debt and the opening scene of the movie. Own nothing. Review
Eudora leaned against a street wall, sobbing. It was night and she had just gotten word that James had been killed in battle. Tiana was at Charlotte's, unaware. Eudora didn't know how to tell her.
"My condolances, chere," a deep voice said. She turned and saw the owner, Shadowman. Eudora stepped back.
"Why are you here?" She asked. He held his hand out to her.
"I heard about James," he said. Grief winning out over reason, she went into his arms. "He was a good man."
"What'll I do now?" She asked.
"I don't know," he told her. "Although," he said slyly, "I'm always available." Eudora pulled herself out of his grasp.
"Monster," she said. "And here I thought you were just being nice. I'd rather Tiana have no father than have you as a dad, you cold heartless bastar..." She was cut off by him grabbing her throat and slamming her against the wall.
"Watch yourself," he said, lifting her up to his eye level. "Your husband isn't here to protect you anymore." She held on to his wrist, choking.
"You promised James you wouldn't hurt me," she gasped. He smiled cruelly.
"I made that promise to a living, breathing man," he said, "not a corpse." He let her go, letting her drop to the ground. She looked up at him.
"Be careful Eudora," he said. "Take care of yourself. And Tiana. Hate to see anything happen to y'all." With that he turned and walked away.
It's short on purpose, I wanted to write a story with less than 300 words.
