It was always said that one hundred years was a blink of an eye in the life of an elf. One century after another, season after season. Their immortality is what made this race the wisest, having witnessed wars of ancient times that few Men, Dwarves, and Hobbits can recall. With them, legend became myth. But with the ever-so fair Elves, history stayed as memories. Memories that one can rejoice in and cherish.
Now, not everything is pure and good with the Elves. What glorifies them, also damns them in many ways. They must witness close friends and allies who do not own immortal abilities age and perish with the slow decay of time. One can not imagine how much more profound the mourning must be for an elf or an ellith who has lost his or her lover to aging, to see them wither away into what the race of Men consider the Golden times- when old age brings the mark of Wisdom. Rare, is it when you hear the news of a bond between a being of Elvish ancestry and a foreigner. It is a long-foreseen doom in the makings; no matter how deep their love for each other may be, no matter how much sacrifice was made for one another. Their beautiful love story must eventually come to an awaited halt. And their partner, left alone to live their scarred lives for the rest of the world's time, must deal with the choices made.

Winter hit Mirkwood hard this year. The main river that lead to Lake-town partially froze, making it difficult for travelers to get through. Blankets of snow covered trees and vegetation for miles. But since it was not snowing at the moment, this didn't bother Tauriel too much. She was off for the day as another captain had filled her position, giving her an opportunity to trek alongside the iced river banks.
After almost an hour non-stop, she came to a halt when reaching a withered, ashened log a few steps from the river's edge. Slush almost engulfed the entire surface. Not being able to hold back a sigh, Tauriel approached the chunk of wood and and sat next to an unscathed spot. Engraved onto it was the name "JYOTI."
Already three centuries have passed, and her old friend's name could still lift Tauriel's mood up to the heavens.

Damn, she really missed her.

Author's note:

Crap, it's been like two years since I've last logged in here! To make a long story short: work, my mental state, and (what was then) high school got the best of me and made me lose my motivation for any of my stories on here (I had another LOTR x WOC story, but decided to focus on this one more and deleted the other). But BAM! Two years later, and I get a small spike of inspiration at 3:00 am and here I am! I would like to thank everyone who bothered to read and/ or make reviews and/ or follow my stories and decided to stick by!

Now on another note, I've recently seen snippets of a Bollywood film called Bajirao Mastani, and was absolutely blown away by actresses Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra in this film! While planning my story and thinking out some scenes, I've kinda based my OC's appearance (Jyoti) on Deepika. But you are free to imagine whoever the hell you want! xD

Read & Review would be nice for improvement. This is my first fanfiction(I'm sure you can tell lol), so advice and tips are greatly appreciated! Will update when I can. :)
