I FINALLY put a story on my account and it only took me... *checks* TWO MONTHS to do so! Anyway, hope you like it!
Disclamer: I don't own Death Note
(Lights, Camera, ACTION!)
"Are you Light Yagami's sister?"
That's what the teachers always ask me, the second they see my last name.
At first, I used to say, "Yes, I'm Light's sister." I said it in such a proud voice. I was so happy to be my brother's sister. He was mature and always got the best grades. He was a model student and I was always pleased to be asked if I were his sister.
Not anymore.
The problem is, the minute they know I'm related to Light Yagami they automatically expect me to be like Light Yagami, and are surprised when I don't meet up with their expectations. I bet they're always wondering, Light Yagami's smart so why isn't Light Yagami's sister smart? Light Yagami's well-mannered so why isn't Light Yagami's sister well-mannered? Light Yagami's perfect so why isn't Light Yagami's sister perfect? I used to try to study all night and be on my best behavior in a sad attempt to be like my flawless brother. I now realize that even if I did suddenly become the top of my class things would not change. People would still look down at me, look at their friends and ask who I was, and their friends would always say, "That's Light Yagami's sister."
Despite all this, I don't hate my brother. Light is smart, handsome, and perfect, and I know that he is not intentionally blinding my teachers and peers. No, it's not his fault that nobody truly sees me. It's their fault for not looking in the first place!
No matter though.
Someday I'll be famous. I don't know what I'm going to do yet. Maybe I'll be a singer that sings about the joys of dreaming and the sorrows of reality, or maybe an actress that wins many awards for the emotions brought into each role, or perhaps maybe I'll write a book that connects with the heart of the reader. I don't care. Someday the world will know I'm here. Someday Mom and Dad will have two children to be proud of. Someday, someone will look up and see my face on TV. They'll turn around and ask their friend "Who is that?" Then, just then, their friend will look at them, perhaps with an incredulous expression, and say,
"That's Sayu Yagami."
