Okay, this is REALLY short. Still, here it is since it's been a while since I've written anything. A shorter dialog came to me yesterday or the day before while I was playing Xbox. xD It was "I've seen what the two of us together looks like, and it's beautiful!" "No. You've seen what you and another version of me together looks like. The two of us? It's so much more than that."
Currently working on a Rookie Blue/Fringe crossover, so the first chapter of that should be up soon-ish.
Enjoy! :)
He looks at her in frustration. She's being stubborn again. It's not uncommon for her and usually he admires her for it – but today, he wants her to just let him show her that they would be okay together. More than okay. He would almost go as far as to say perfect, but he tends to save that adjective for things he's already watched happen. Her way of getting him back to Boston was perfect. Her personality around Ella was perfect. The Cortexiphan trials, though flawed and wrong, were perfect because without them, he wouldn't meet her ever again. Not the real her, anyway.
So he didn't mean to say the words this way, but it just ends up coming out not how he wanted. "I've seen what the two of us together looks like and it's beautiful!" Her eyes grow icy and immediately he wants to take it back. Change the wording. That he's seen what the two of them together could look like and the possibility is beautiful.
But no. She's already spitting words back at him. "Really, Peter? Really? No, you haven't really seen what the two of us together looks like. Besides the kiss over there, you really can't say things like that. You've seen what you and another version of me together looks like. The two of us… it would be so much more than that." She shakes her head in disbelief. "I've got to go. I'll be in the office if you think of anymore comparisons between me and her."
Before he has time to react, she's gone. Slipped out of his fingers and through the front door. He knows he could stop her now, while she's still on the property. He can't find the courage to. His heart is still frozen, his veins still cold, from the absolute heartbreak in her eyes while she said that.
He caused her pain. Unintentionally.
Now he will do anything to make sure she never experiences this kind of thing again.
