"What were ya' like before? Before you -"

"Regenerated?" The Doctor finished Yaz's question, not looking up from the console for a moment, unsure of how to really answer. How could she tell this beautifully pure young woman that she had once been a solidier, a fighter... a killer. This had made the Doctor finally look up, look up to meet expectant eyes, and the frown that Yaz now wore. The Doctor had been silent for a too long and it had worried the young officer. The only thing the Doctor Knew to do now was grin. That daft new grin of hers as she moved closer to her new companion.

"I was fun, not as fun as me, now, or was I? I don't think so, but I like this fun me now, don't you?

Yasmin could see something behind the Doctors words, behind that hopeful sparkle in her eye, it was full of pain and suffering, that of her own and of others. Now that Graham and Ryan had decided to leave, Yaz had realised just how little the Doctor spoke about herself, or her past, the rest of them had spoken plenty, they'd filled the TARDIS with constant chatter and laughter than the only time the Doctor had joined in with them was laughing too when she wasn't focused in getting the TARDIS to a destination.

"Yeah, I mean, of course, ya great fun, I love it. I just..." There was hesitation in her voice, and the Doctor could sense that, and moving forward, the blonde allowed herself to reach forward, her fingers dancing ever so lightly over the back of Yasmin's hand.

"I was a different person, many different people in fact, and those people made choices, and decisions, and acted in ways that I wouldn't now, but I still live with those, and it hurts, just a lil', but it's okay, 'cause y'know why?"

Yaz had felt differently about the Doctor since it had become just the two of them travelling, she'd had a bit of a crush on the alien from the beginning, but now that it was just the two of them, it felt like things had only become more intense, she had to rely on the Doctor more, there was no Graham or Ryan there to help, it was the Doctor or no-one. Listening to the other had put the young woman in a sort of trance, soaking in all that she said without reacting, it had become a recurring habit that now, but when the Doctor hhad finished speaking, and now expected a response, Yaz shook her head quickly, her hand blinding trying to reach for the Doctor's just as she'd pulled it away.

"It's okay cause I've got you, my new... well, buddy? No, I mean, yes, but.. no. Wait, companion? No, that sounds too formal, too strict. What are we?"

Yasmin had opened and closed her mouth countless times during the Doctor's little ramble, trying to slow the woman down, if not to add her own bit in, but at the question, she too fell short on an answer, and once more, as she opened her mouth to speak, the TARDIS threw them both against each one another, back against the pillar and then hard against the console, to which both women collapsed to the floor, tangled in each other.

"Landed then, 'ave we?" Yaz mocked as she looked at the Doctor, their closeness bringing a growing blush to her cheeks.

"Think that's a fair assumption, wanna go look?"

"Aww I'd love too."

After a fleeting moment, Yaz untangled herself from the Doctor and helped the woman up before rushing towards the TARDIS door, that growing thrill and excitement sending adrenaline pulsating through her body, looking forward to what their next adventure will hold.
