Family trip - Mad Duck
Sleepily, the 5 year old red haired opened his eyes. On the seat next to him, were two other red heads, one a shade exact to his. Rudolf red mom called it. The other more Autumn brown in color.
The two toddlers were slumped against each other in their car seats, fast asleep.
His other sister wasn't with them. She was too young for such a long journey and had been left with granny while they had gone to the fair.
"Renji."
He looked up at his moms' smiling face between the drivers and passengers seat.
Her chestnut locks fell around her face, framing it and enhancing her eyes.
"Go back to sleep Renji." She cooed lovingly "We're still a long way from home."
Two blue eyes peered at him through the rear view mirror, eyes, twinkling, indicating that the pumpkin haired man that was driving the car was smiling.
"Listen to your mother Renji. When you wake up, we'll all be home." He's dad told him.
Yawning, Renji drifted to sleep once more.
Further along a drunken driver jumped a red light.
And they never made it home.
