Disclaimer: I don't own The Elder Scrolls games, including Skyrim. They belong to Bethesda as do most of the characters in this story. I only own the plot and there may be some OCs.
So this is basically a summary of my character, Vieshna the Dragonborn, and how my game has gone. From next chapter, it'll mostly be about adult Sofie and won't feature too much of Vieshna.
She entered the inn, brown hair tumbling down her back. Her favourite dagger was at her side, a present from her mother when she was only a child. Her name was Sofie, and she was the eldest daughter of Vieshna, a High Elf who was better known as the Dragonborn. They had met when Sofie had been a child selling flowers in Windhelm just to survive after her parents deaths. Vieshna had been in the city to complete a quest by the Jarl and had stumbled upon the child. After buying a flower from her, she had grown to care for the girl and eventually invited her to live in Whiterun as her adoptive daughter. Sofie had accepted the offer, quickly collecting her equipment and meeting Vieshna in Whiterun (having received a lift there from Sigaar, a carriage driver that had been passing through Windhelm saving Sofie having to get there without fighting scary things like wolves and bandits).
A month after moving in with Vieshna, Sofie had gotten another mother in the form of Lydia - the housecarl of Breezehome. Vieshna had married the Nord woman and not long after that Sofie's younger sister Runa came to live with them. Runa had come from an orphanage in Riften, she told Sofie once, and was really happy to have her new mothers and sister. Sofie managed to learn that Runa was a few months younger than her, technically making her the eldest daughter.
Sofie was used to living in Breezehome alone, since Vieshna and Lydia were always on adventures - usually involving fighting bandits. Then one day Lydia returned for good, quickly opening a store to earn money for herself, Vieshna and the girls. Vieshna continued to visit, even after purchasing Honeyside, her Riften house that she tended to stay in more than Breezehome.
Runa and Sofie enjoyed played with the other children in Whiterun when they lived there - Braith, Lars Battle-Born, Mila Valentina and Lucia. Braith, although sometimes a bully, could be fun to play tag with. Lars enjoyed fighting with Sofie using wooden swords. Lucia was an orphan like Sofie and Runa had been so they easily befriended her. Mila didn't play with them as much as she had to help her mother with their stall.
Overall, Sofie had enjoyed living in Whiterun. She may not have grown up there - the family moved around a lot before finally settling in Lakeview Manor - but Sofie still remembered playing with the other children and she also remembered seeing the love blossom between Lars and Braith, though Lars had been oblivious to Braith's feelings.
Sofie was going to be an adventurer like Vieshna, she knew that. That was why she had returned to Whiterun, hoping to start her journey in the city where she once lived and was well known by people, including the Jarl and many of the adults.
She also had another reason for returning. This was the sight of the last reported sighting of her ma, Vieshna, and the place she would begin the search at. Her ma had disappeared from this city two weeks ago, with no sightings at all from any other city or village. This normally wouldn't worry Sofie, but something told her there was more to this than just her ma getting distracted by a cave or bandit hideout. Something more sinister…
