Spreads his wings
Angry, lonely, lost in the tide
Soaring on the wind
Showering disdain on the dust of the world
Always alone

Wolf howls
Hurt, frightened
She strikes at her enemies
But cannot flee
Crying for help, knowing none will come
Calling out

Eagle eyes
See battle below
Spreads his talons to fight
And dives
To defend the wolf as she defends him
Back to back

They pause
Both alone, both angry
Both desperately needing
Eyes meet
They move to touch, to melt
Into something new

Wings unfurl, fangs flash
Crying joy, they leap into the sky
Never alone
