AN: So, basically, I was rereading 'Code of the Clans' with my friends and we each wrote a story about the first Code: Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan. One of my friends wrote a story about a Warrior who didn't want to fight in battle, and I wrote a romance story. (of course *sigh*).

Disclaimer: I don't own anything that you recognize.

"Mouse-brain!" Sunwhisker purred with amusement at Plumfoot, who was trying - and failing - to catch fish, even after Sunwhisker's lessons.

The pretty red-and-brown ShadowClan she-cat was sitting on her haunches by the edge of the water, a frustrated expression on her face.

The sky above them was dark, but the moon was full as it had been a Gathering the day before.

Plumfoot turned to the ginger RiverClan Warrior. "oh, really?" She meowed playfully. "And I expect that you can catch a lizard perfectly!"

Sunwhisker wrinkled his berry-pink nose. "As if I would want to eat something hard and scaly!" He protested.

Plumfoot padded towards him and looked into his blue eyes with her own green orbs. "Do you think our kits will like both fish and lizards?" She whispered to him, her voice desperately hopeful.

"Of course," Sunwhisker purred, twining his tail in hers. Suddenly, his ears pricked up and the happy, content expression on his face changed to on of fear. "A RiverClan patrol is coming!"

Plumfoot bolted and immediately crashed into a tree stump.

"I'm not used to this extra weight!" She wailed, glaring at her large belly as though it were the cause of all her problems.

A RiverClan patrol rushed into their clearing and stopped, horrified.

"I can explai-" Sunwhisker protested hurriedly.

"Oh, I don't think you need to." RiverClan's Deputy, Otterclaw interrupted. "Kill her," she ordered, flicking her tail in the direction of Plumfoot. "Stonestar will decide your fate." She told Sunwhisker.

Sunwhisker was led away, the cries of his dying lover ringing in the crisp night air.

This is set just before the Code about not killing was put in place, so it was okay (well, not okay, but not against the Code) for Otterclaw to kill Plumfoot.
