A/N: Hello there, the wanderer returns. I know I've been away for a while and I'm sorry for that, but I've been quite busy as of late. I thought I'd better post something, so I decided to post this little thing which I'm quite fond of. It tells of Frodo's thoughts at the Grey Havens as he passes into the west. Enjoy!
DISCLAIMER: Unfortunately, none of the characters or places are mine, they belong to Tolkien. It's my poem though.
It's come to this, at the end of days
No turning back, going home
I've made my choice, I can no longer stay
To suffer, in silence, alone.
For years I've coped, not said a word
But no longer can it be
That I can stay in this world free from pain
In pure bliss, harmony.
Sam, my friend, please understand
For you were a Ringbearer too,
That although I've sailed far away
I'll always be with you, pure and true.
Promise me one thing, dear Sam
In years to come you'll do this
Tell our story, strong and proud
Tell our friendship, and what it is.
Sam, you mean the world to me
Through times and trouble you were there
Sam, my companion, my brother
Thank you for your love and your care.
The pain in your eyes is too much
As I take you into a loving embrace
I whisper to you "Remember"
As tears run down your face
"Goodbye, Dear Sam" I quietly say
Holding back unshed tears,
Understanding floods your face
Pushing away all of my fears
It's come to this at the end of days
All trouble and strife has passed
With one last smile I pass into the West
And I feel contentment at last.
A/N: So, what do you think? Let me know as I love to hear from you, constructive criticism welcome. Thank you! Love Sarah xx
