Author's Note: if I owned OUAT there would be no such thing as hiatuses. Sadly I do not own Once.
Killian hated his hook. He hated what it symbolized and how it reminded him everyday of losing his first love Milah. It had since been a constant reminder of his plan for revenge on the crocodile. He hated that it made simple tasks like buttoning his shirt almost impossible and that it scratched his body if h forgot to remove it before going to bed.
It was an ugly appendage that preformed no real use except as a weapon. A weapon was good even useful during his time as a pirate, but now living in Storybrook it had become a bit of a pain. And worst of all he was worried about the hook, that one day he might forget it was attached and hurt Emma with it. What if he tried to hold her close and accidentally punctured her with the point. The hook had always been a literal and metaphorical sore point with Killian.
Hook was sitting waiting for Emma to return giving his hook a look of absolute derision. Emma entered the room from behind Killian and watched him staring intently at his hook. She knew the pain that hook symbolized and wished she could do something to alleviate his pain. She recognized that the hook was a constant reminder of Milah and the life he had lived since. The darkness of the choices that haunted him were represented by the hook.
She coughed slightly and Hook turned to face her, pulling her into an embrace. His hooked hand was held far from her body to avoid hurting his Swan. They pulled apart and she glanced vaguely in the direction of his hook. Killian felt slightly self-conscious with Emma staring at his hideous deformity.
She smiled slightly and reached for his hooked hand. He tried to pull away afraid of the harm he might cause but she was far too quick. Her hand wrapped around the cool metal of his hook and then mirrored the curve of the hook with her hand. She raised her hand lifting his hook with it.
Her hand and his hook formed a small heart shape. "I know you think your hook is ugly but, I think it's beautiful" Emma said still holding his hook. "You are no longer the same man who lost his hand" Emma said acknowledging the changes Killian had made since then. A smile crossed his face, his Swan was always able to illicit a smile from him.
He moved his hooked arm down and fitted it through the loop of her jeans pulling her close. "Thank you Emma for finally making me feel whole" he said with his face tucked into her hair. She wrapped her arms around him and whispered "any time Captain."
She shivered as her face brushed against the stubble of his chin. "The hook does have other uses though" he said waggling his eyebrows suggestively causing her to blush. He then proceeded to lift her bridal style supporting her leg gingerly with his hook. "Put me down" Emma yelled slightly panicked. "Not a chance Swan" he said carrying her up the stairs of their small loft.
Needless to say Killian hated his hook a little less whenever his Swan was around.
