Author's Notes: Vincent and Yuffie in a setting quite different from what you'd expect.
Afternoon Skies
The afternoon sky looked so boring to him everyday; why was he forced to look at it? Sure to other people it would seem like such a beautiful sight with the sun's rays reflecting magnificently off the snow peaks of Mount Nibelheim to shine off orange and red colors but he wasn't interested in crap like that. Instead of glamoring over the sunset, he backtracked to the day she ended up at his door.
"You want to… what?" Vincent had never heard such an absurd request in his life… and traveling with Cloud was more than absurd for him.
"Live with ya', duh! It's not that bad, Vin, seeing as you're going to have a beautiful roommate. Not to mention, living by yourself in this dark building isn't good for you."
"Lockhart lives down the block… so technically I'm not alone. Can't you just live with Lockhart?"
"She's too clean and prestige for me, y'know? I like the fact that you live so... 'ruleless'! Anyways move aside, my legs hurt."
What a painful memory and why he didn't slam the door on her face still bedazzled him. Regardless, his situation could not be changed and he felt some form of shame if he kicks her out now when he somewhat agreed to let her stay.
"This afternoon shit makes me think too much," he thought as he rose from his seat. Sure he might've enjoyed this crap when he was with Lucrecia but that was ages ago and he didn't want to recall memories of her... definitely not after he learned all about her giving birth to a global threat and encountering her behind the water-fall.
Yuffie, on the other hand, had been captivated by the snow peaks and had a faraway expression on her face. No smirk drew on her face nor was there that sickly expression she often gave off on the highwind; it was calm and innocent with her black hair moving with the evening breeze. It's more suiting, he concluded, than her obnoxious facial expressions and annoying smiles.
She turned away from the mountains to look at Vincent with the same, still face. Her innocence captivated Vincent for a moment and he felt a strange feeling in his heart that he long forgotten. She seemed dazed for a moment with her eyes locked with Vincent's and then gave off that renowned, wide smile.
"I'm done. Want to head in?"
Vincent brushed a lock of hair away from his face and nods. "Yeah… let's head in now."
In his heart, Vincent decided that he would be reluctant to catch her innocent facial expression once more.
