A version of when Josh asks Grace out for a drink, end of ep 1.

The actions and dialogue are from the television script but the thoughts are added.

Josh walks out and sees her leaning against the wall. He wonders momentarily if she is waiting for him, He's liked her since the first moment but he's resisted flirting because he hates dating work colleagues and its even trickier if they are married ! But after the events of today he senses a bond between them and he suspects that she might like him too.

Why not take a chance ?

On a whim, he bluntly asks her out for a drink. He expects that she might refuse or laugh in disbelief but her reaction isn't what he expected, she seems puzzled, thoughtful which he finds encouraging. She looks like she's giving it some thought.

Grace is in fact, side-swiped by his proposal, she seriously hadn't expected this and she hasn't got any prepared responses so her reaction is completely unscripted and betrays her serious consideration of his proposal. But its not possible, she's expecting Connor. She's even more astonished by Josh's suggestion that she call Connor ! He's got some nerve !

Next Connor drives up all smiles, the perfect husband.

Grace is actually relieved to see Connor, as much as she's tempted by Josh's proposal, it does scare her. She happily goes over to Connor and goes over the top with caresses, kisses, deliberately intended to put Josh off the scent. ( Connor must be thinking its his lucky day ! )

Josh hates watching them kissing. He doesn't think too highly of Connor. He's known Grace a few months now and he sees her as a spirited woman who could live a more exciting life but instead is living a comfortable suburban existence very influenced by a supportive family. He knows that both her family and husband don't approve of her move to TR and have been trying to talk her out of staying there.

Connor offers for Josh to join them. Josh is disgusted although he disguises it well. What a w*****, he thinks, sangria ? in a cute little restaurant ? No thanks. He'd rather take Grace to the beach, get fish and chips and a six-pack, sit on a pier eating and drinking and watching the sun go down, and then the stars.......

"No, I'll pass" Josh says politely, knowing that Connor is being excessively polite and not genuine with this offer.

They drive off and Josh walks in the other direction. He has a couple of beers and a game of pool with mates at his local. They chat up some girls, share a drink, a kiss outside, but its meaningless and Josh goes home alone tonight.
