She is a new kid at her new school Westchester country day and about to begin the eight grade . The point of this book (more of a diary actually) is to help every single new kid survive middle school. WOOHOO for middle school !

Get a cell phone . No phone means no social life ! Just look how much Nikki wants that phone !

Be confident ! Who cares if you are new? Loads of people are new so get some confidence , chat and make friends !
GET INVOLVED ! Join as many clubs and after school stuff as possible !
Don't gossip like ever it may seem cool at that time but it could back fire
Everyone wants to be popular but don't make friends with the wrong kind of people
GET FUNKY ! Design your locker in a really cool way sometimes you popularity slightly increases due to lockers
Throw at least ONE party which will blow other parties away !
If you throw a party don't throw it at some CHEAP place like at you house , your house is only for sleepovers because if you act cheap your friends will think " OMG she is so mean she can't even spend 10 bucks on a party."
Don't get crushed by a crush !

Sarah Grossman: Mackenzie's other best friend
Jessica: Mackenzie's other best friend, she is almost maybe even more HORRIBLY TERRIBLE than Mackenzie !
Brianna Maxwell : sister of Nikki, terrified of the tooth fairy and really annoying person !
Mr. Maxwell and Mrs. Maxwell : Nikki's parents who try to help her survive 8th grade, but they only make it worse
Brandon : Nikki's crush… hope he did not join the dark side with Mackenzie !
There are more characters, although we cannot give solid information about them as their name is not given just a picture or they are a person who Nikki knew from the past in this case it doesn't really affect the present
