It wasn't until recently that River realized she doesn't have a home. Sure, she has her cell at Stormcage, and the TARDIS, she even has a room at her parents house. But none of them feel like home. She grew up with no stable home, moving from city to city. When she eventually found Amy and Rory, the orphanage she was forced to live in was not much of a home. When she finally got out of there, she went straight to Stormcage, (which she spends more time out of than in).
The TARDIS is probably the closest thing she has to a home, she decides. She's alway there for River, but not always with the correct version of her husband. She never stays for more than a few days at a time anyway. She makes a point of it. Her room at Amy and Rory's is nice, but very bland. The room can't have pictures for the risk of spoilers, and once again, she never stays for more than a few days at a time. She loves her parents, more than most kids love their parents, but more than a few days and she needs to get out and cause some trouble. It's what she does best.
Maybe one day, she thinks, one day she can find the perfect home. If she could ever get that damn pardon! For now she's just a nomad, going from place to place. And she's okay with that. She doesn't really have much other choice.
