You took me in, we were like family.
Then you betrayed everyone, even me.
To unite with a king.
We called ourselves "monster fighters"
And cursed our parents.
You took care of that brave 7-year-old,
but on our friend, we lost our hold
Your mother driven mad with the gift of sight,
Your father forced to stay away,
because he knew what your future held.
A family torn apart because of a prophecy.
After years at camp,
I saw the light in your eyes, slowly dim, like a candle.
Then you ran away,
a new sword in hand.
The gift from the lord of time.
You took me in, we were like family.
Then you betrayed everyone, even me.
To unite with a king.
Your face ruined with an ugly scar,
and cold,
like the ice in your heart,
eyes turning gold as the king takes over.
Such resentment was enough to drive you mad,
but I saw the tiny part of you that still cared.
Two years later,
I see your broken form on the rocks below a cliff,
but I know you aren't dead,
not yet.
You took me in, we were like family.
Then you betrayed everyone, even me.
To unite with a king.
Our last encounter was even less pleasant
"A single choice shall end his days."
You sacrificed yourself and saved the day
I guess that was enough to pay
With a knife in your side you ask me
"Did you love me?"
Wiping tears from my eyes I say
"You were like a brother to me,
but I didn't love you."
Now,
the prophecy complete,
we realize...
You were the hero.
You did many wrongs.
But in the end,
You did the right thing.
Nothing,
will ever heal the broken king
