Jade Curtiss is a liar.

Certainly, he's always been a good actor. He's perfectly capable of feigning innocence or a sickness to get out of hard labor, but that is merely acting.

Jade Curtiss is a liar, and he knows it.

There is a part of him – a tiny, almost nonexistent part – that believes in faith. He tries to push it aside, oh yes, but the faith he holds is very different from the faith Van holds. Before Luke, Jade had possessed absolutely no faith. But now, Jade has seen how a person can change.

(left hand extended, you have my trust)

Van had been wrong. So very, very wrong. Jade knows this now. But, he's realized it to late because Luke is, at this moment, sacrificing himself. For them. For the world. And no one will know until they tell them. Luke will get recognition, yes. He'll be held up as a hero, the hero of Auldrant. But then, he'll be forgotten so quickly (too quickly).

Heroes always are.

The difference between them and Jade and Guy and everyone else is that they know him. They know the struggle Luke faced, not only to become stronger but to find himself. They know the pain of losing loved ones. They know true loss.

(they see his faith in the smile he gives when he returns)

Jade Curtiss is a liar, but that's alright, because everyone knows he's lying.
