He'd only heard she liked those white flowers, and from a source he wasn't sure he could trust (as honest as Lucius was, he didn't know Fiora quite as well as other members of the army would). Kent gripped the stems more tightly, only loosening his grip when he realized that could break them.

"It makes sense, though, they're white and she's from Ilia...oh, but if she's from Ilia she might not care much for white, she's seen it all her life..." he mused.

After all his attempts to deny it, he'd taken the first step in admitting he was falling for the pegasus knight. It didn't seem possible, both so focused on their duties to the point of suppressing romantic feelings. But the more time they spent together, the deeper their similarities began to run. They liked clear, starry nights. They enjoyed the same literature. They could relate to each other's excessive worries, her for her sisters and he for his lady and reckless companion.

And that was why he stood there with a bouquet of calla lilies in his hand, nervous as a schoolboy.

"Kent?"

He was apparently so deep in thought he hadn't heard her footsteps behind him. Kent turned around, trying to fight back a blush.

"Ah, Fiora! Lovely night, isn't it?"

"Yes, I would say so." She glanced towards the bouquet in his hand. "Are those yours, Kent?"

"N-no, of course not. What would I need flowers for?" he laughed.

"Then what are you doing with them?" Fiora asked. Kent swallowed and held them out to her, cringing as his palms began to sweat.

"T...they're for you," he stammered, and her eyes lit up.

"Oh, Kent, they're beautiful! How did you know calla lilies are my favorite?" she gasped. Kent breathed a sigh of relief.

"A lucky guess, I suppose."

"A very lucky guess," she said, and leaned forward to press her lips to his cheek. "Thank you, Kent."

He was suddenly very thankful for the darkness as it his his now rather painful blush.

"You're welcome," he said. "It is such a beautiful night, though, and we're in fairly safe territory...would you like to go for a walk with me?" He extended his arm, and she took it with a smile.

"I would love to."
