The Worlds I Never Knew

One, for a world of clear sight-

Where the ground does not shift,

Where we do not fall in concealed snares,

Where lies never cover up truths-

This is not our world.

Two, for a world of unfailing health-

Where fatigue does not haunt,

Where sickness cannot overwhelm,

Where life does not erode into death-

This is not our world.

Three, for a world of bonds forever true-

Where loneliness does not lurk in the shadows,

Where families cannot be broken,

Where friendships cannot crumble-

This is not our world.

Four, for a world of righteous choices-

Where we are not toppled by pride,

Where selfish ambition does not destroy,

Where sin's poison does not corrupt all-

This is not our world.

Five, for a world of mercy undeserved-

Where truth always prevails,

Where life may be lived beyond disease's grip,

Where love is everlasting-

This is a stained world cleansed in our Savior's blood,

This is our world.

Author's Note: This poem was written a while ago and left on my flash drive until I re-read it recently. I found that it fit some current circumstances in my life and my feelings concerning them. Its ending stanza is both an encouragement for me (I suppose that's a bit weird since I wrote it, but, oh well) and a statement of my convictions concerning the conclusion of my troubles. I have come to and still continue to realize that even though there might not always be a happy ending, we can always find refuge and strength in Jesus. Thank you for taking the time to read my poem.
