A/N: Fic number uno after almost a year. Sort of. Thank you for being patient, and not haunting me to update. (: Hope you enjoy this. More to come later.

Saying goodbye was never on the top of Shawn's favorite things to do. In fact, it always broke his heart when he had to do so. Shawn hated having to let go to people he loved or places he's made a connection with. That was the problem, though. When you stay somewhere for so long, you start to get too comfortable; you love it, you create a bond with the others there. And every day your love for the place you call your home or your sanctuary gets deeper and your bond with your friends grows stronger. And then when you're at the end of your rope, letting go is just too hard.

With a heavy sigh, the Heartbreak Kid disappeared from the upset crowd into the backstage. After the cameras turned off the fans chanted again, "Please don't go, please don't go!" But he had to. This was his last hurrah. And anyways, nothing lasted forever…

He was about to leave when he heard, "Leaving again, are we, Shawn?"

It was a female's voice. But it was said in the form of a laugh. Shawn looked up and saw his co-worker and friend, Eiris Hales. She was standing a bit of a distance away, but her arms were crossed and her stance was tensed. She seemed…unimpressed? And she laughed – she laughed. Why did she? Shawn asked himself. Did she want him gone? Did she mock his departure?

Shawn didn't ask questions.

Eiris's black hair fell down on her, what it looked like, slightly red face. She looked stressed, in a way. "Isn't that the, what, third time now you said you were leaving? Hah." She scoffed. "Right…"

It took a minute for him to speak. He was trying to form some words to put together to reply to her in an explanation she would understand. In a way, she was right. He had left and come back. But not this time. He sighed, and looked down at his feet when he did. "I really am leaving, Eiris, it's for real this time. I…I'm not going back on my word. Not to the company. Not to all of you. Or the fans. Or myself."

"You're lying." Eiris accused. He was beginning to read her body language. And it became clear, where she was going with this. "You're not going anywhere. No. You're staying with us."

"Eiris…I'm not wrestling anymore." He stated.

"You're lying."

"No. I really am done-"

"You're lying!" Eiris's voice rose higher, cutting him off. Tears began to bubble up in her eyes. "I don't believe you. You can't leave us."

Shawn said nothing once again. He watched her as everything about her right now stayed the same. But she tapped her foot, trying to keep it together. Trying to hold back the sadness that was forming inside of her.

He stepped forward to her, closer, "Hey…give me a hug."

She resisted, didn't say anything.

"Hey," Shawn said her name, "Come here…"

And then after a couple of seconds, she walked over and fell into her friend's arms. Her tears streaming down her face, staining her cheeks. She wrapped her arms around him.

"No, you're lying," Eiris sobbed. "You—can't—leave us! Please, no, don't go, Shawn!"

He held her tightly. She was going to miss him, and vise versa. But she knew deep down, he might leave, but their friendship would never die. She would accept it later in time.
