"Hey 'Kai…you know your eyes glow in the dark?"

Hakkai paused by the doorway and glanced over his shoulder.

"Really, Gojyo, I highly doubt…"

"Nah, they do. Well, the left one does anyways. Try it, close the door and make sure the light is out."

Hakkai sighed dramatically and did as he was asked. The door to their room closed softly and the single overhead light flicked off mutely. Hakkai stood by the door for a moment before carefully picking his way across the concrete floor.

"You're by the table."

Hakkai paused and blinked rapidly for a moment before moving on, backwards this time.

"Bookshelf…bathroom…T.V….foot of the bed…hey, 'Kai…?" Gojyo's voice had slowly softened as Hakkai proceeded to stalk closer and closer to his prone figure on the bed.

The question hung in the air between them silently, and yet Gojyo could have sworn he'd shouted it into the night. He reached out a tentative hand and smiled as his fingers looped around the other's wrist loosely.

"Hey 'Kai…you didn't know, did you?"

"Didn't know what, Gojyo?" Hakkai breathed out shakily.

"Didn't know that I could see you. When we were living together, when we were on the road or even in some forest somewhere. No matter where we were, I could see you watching me."

"Then why…?"

"Why didn't I ever say anything?" Gojyo shrugged and shook his head lightly, "Maybe I was afraid you would slink away back into the shadows. Maybe I liked knowing you were watching me. Maybe it made me think it was alright to watch you back."

"And now?" Hakkai's voice caught in his throat as he moved in closer, until they were just inches apart.

"Maybe I got tired of just watching. Maybe I wanted to see if reality was a s good as my dreams."

"Dreams, huh?"

"Yeah, dreams…wanna find out with me?"

Hakkai licked his lips and smiled into the dark room, his breath skipping across Gojyo's open lips as he responded, "Yes…let's see what these dreams of yours are made of?"

Gojyo smiled broadly and closed his eyes…he didn't need to see the shimmering green-gold of Hakkai's for what was happening…his skin told him everything he'd ever need to know.
