Swimming lesson

Summary: Connie's never been a strong swimmer so Steven decides he's going to help her.

For the amazing spatial thank you for the prompt my dearest friend.

(Connie's pov)

I watched as Steven moved deeper into the ocean. "Come on Connie." The water went up to his chest. I looked down at my legs, the waves were hitting my knees.

After my sword lesson with Pearl yesterday, Steven asked me if I wanted to come and help looked for Lapis. I told him that I would love to but, it might not be the best idea cause I'm not the best swimmer. Steven sweetly suggested that he could give me a swimming lesson to help me, I really did want to go on missions with him and the gems so I agreed.

He called me this morning to tell me that we had our first lesson today. So I dressed and went over. The ocean was really calm. We waded up to our knees, though now he was extending his hand out for me to grab so he could pull me farther out to sea.

"Come on Connie. Don't you trust me?" He was giving me his best puppy face. The one that no one but Pearl could resist and I could see why no one else could. It was adorable. His soft brown eyes all starry , his bottom lip stuck out cutely.

I smiled at him. "Of course." I grabbed his hands and felt him pull me towards him. Water splashing as I went deeper in. He grinned as our faces got closer.

"Okay now just keep moving your legs and arms so you don't go under. Like this." Steven moved his arms up and down underwater and kicked his legs back and forth. I followed his example. Steven was watching me intently and my face was heating up though it could be from the sun.

"Like this?" "Try not to be so stiff, just relax and move." I gave him a skeptical look. "But if I relax to much I'll go under." Steven swam closer to me. "No you won't. Here let me show you." He placed an arm under my legs and the other behind my back. Now I knew why my face was so red. "Now just lay back, relax, and keep you weight even. There now your floating on your back!" I stuck my arms out to keep from sinking.

Though Steven was right I wasn't going under. I looked at him. He had already let go of me but stayed close enough so if I did go down he could reach me. I moved back to a standing position. "See you didn't go under." He teased. "Well that's because I have such a great teacher." I watched as he laughed. "I don't know about great teacher." He said modestly. "I think your great." His cheeks were also turning red and he rubbed the back of his neck. "Thanks Connie your great too." I blushed.

"Thanks for not letting me go under." We were walking back up to his house for snacks. "Connie I would never let you under not if I can help it anyways." I smiled and felt him grab my hand pulling me up his stairs to the door. "Come on if we hurry we can still watch under the knife!" I ran to catch up with him. "What are we waiting for? Oh I hope Dr. Connor can find the right blood type in time for the operation other wise he'll have to use his own!"
