Valkyrie screamed as the poison dart pierced her shoulder. She watched as the Ghastly from this world dived at her. She felt him haul her up from the ground and take her around the corner of old forgotten buildings. He set her down as gently as he could, careful of her shoulder. Being placed down on cold and wet mud didn't even register in her brain as the sting in her shoulder worsened.
She'd planned to take Skulduggery with her this time, but they were separated doing work for Ravel.
"Don't worry," She'd said while Skulduggery had protested, loudly. "I know you'll miss me but I won't be gone too long. It'll probably be another few days before I shunt anyways."
Oh how much she regretted those words right now. All she wanted was for Skulduggery to come and rescue her, but she didn't wish it too loud. Last time she wished for Skulduggery Lord Vile decided to make an appearance.
Now she was hidden from sight as The Redhoods were battling with Ghastly's group, The Resistance. If she'd had her bloody jacket that Kitana girl had taken from her, she wouldn't be in this mess. This distress.
Her arm was starting to throb, and she couldn't speak to warn ghastly. She squirmed as the poison was taking effect, pushing it's way through her system. "Shh, you'll be alright." Ghastly was saying, looking around him to make sure he wouldn't be snuck up on by anybody.
He examined the wound but did not touch it.
"Dex'll have something on him." He said, getting to his feet. "I'm sorry, it won't hurt for much longer." He said, he himself flinching at the amount of pain she was enduring. He crouched low, surveying his surroundings, then began to run to a building opposite but stopped dead when he heard her screech telling him 'No!'.
He turned just as she flickered, and she was gone from his sight
The world flickered around her and she was on a cold stone floor. The agony hadn't lessened and she writhed in pain before she let out another screech which echoed harshly as it bounces off the small narrow walls.
She tried to look up, tears blurring her vision. Although she could barely see, it all looked familiar, as if she knew where she was but her thoughts were obscured. Obscured by the pain that felt as if it were tearing her to shreds. A brief image of Darquesse flashed through her mind before another jolt of pain hit her, she screwed her eyes shut and she screamed.
"Skulduggery!"
