I do not own NCIS

A/N: some of the characters are a little out of character.

I have always needed you Jethro.

"You can not have the case because, however qualified you think your agents are or high your clearance is, you are not going to get the case for it is NOT in your jurisdiction, your clearance isn't high enough and your agents are not qualified for this case. I'm sorry director, but this one is mine." The FBI director stated bluntly as he ended the conversation.

This has not been my day. I woke up late, therefore not getting a chance to have my morning coffee; my car broke down which then caused me to take a cab in, which in turn made me even later. All the cases that I was suppose to get today have been given to other agencies, and the director of the FBI has just been the icing on my bad day. Oh, and to make everything better, Jethro has been avoiding all conversations with me.

I left MTAC, and went to my office; I had asked Cynthia to call downstairs and get Jethro come up to my office because I need to know what his current problem is.

Downstairs

"Ya sure Cynthia. I'll tell him when he gets back in. Thanks Cynthia." Tony said into the telephone.

Gibbs suddenly appeared coming out of the elevator with two cups of coffee and looking very tired. It had been one of those Mondays where nothing went right.

"Hey Boss!" Tony yelled. "The director is looking for you and apparently she sounded really mad."

"Apparently, DiNozzo?" Gibbs said, staring down his senior field agent.

"Well you see, Jenny told Cynthia, and Cynthia told me, so I could tell you that the director's looking for you, so I have no idea how the director sounded." Tony explained.

Without saying anything, Gibbs stared at Tony for several seconds, than he ran upstairs to see the director. He paid no attention to Cynthia who tried to tell him that she didn't want to be disturbed, and walked right in to her office. Once the door was closed the yelling started.

"What took you so long to get up here?!" I started.

"I had to get you a cup of coffee because, if I visit you on Monday morning and I have coffee you always want one too." Gibbs retorted

"Who the hell does he think he is? I mean really? Why does NCIS always have to take a back seat on every federal investigation?" I ranted.

"Maybe it's because they have jurisdiction in the investigation." Gibbs supplied.

"But that's not the point." I said starting to get defensive.

"And what is the point Jen?" Gibbs asked.

"The point is that we shouldn't have to take second place."I answered.

Gibbs now realizing that this conversation might take slightly longer than he had planned, so without saying anything he walked over to me and gave me his second cup of coffee in his hands; then he proceeded to walk over to the couch and tapped the seat beside him.

"Now tell me what's really the matter." Gibbs said in that unusually kind and concerned tone.

"It's just been one of those days, where everything has gone wrong and the FBI director was just the last straw. I'm sorry for yelling at you, Jethro." I explained as I walked over to Gibbs and sat down beside him.

"It's okay. I've had 3 ex wives, remember." Gibbs said trying to make a joke out of the situation as he wrapped arm around me.

"True, thanks for the coffee Jethro." I said.

"I thought you needed it today." Gibbs explained.

"What I really needed was you Jethro." I explained why I had Cynthia call him.

Gibbs leaned in and kissed me on the forehead and said "I will always be here for you Jenny. And you will always be my love."

"Shouldn't you be with your team?" I said.

"Good point. I'll see you tonight, right?" Gibbs asked.

"Ya." I answered.

"I love you." Gibbs told me and kissed me gingerly on my lips, then got up and went toward the door.

"I love you too." I told him as he left my office.
