Ground Me
"Padfoot, Can you please ground me?" Hermione asked as she walked into the study of Number 4 Grimmauld Place. Now this would not be a normal thing for a fifteen year old witch to request... Unless you considered the other meanings of the word ground.
Sirius looked up from the magazine he had been flipping through and there was a fwap sound as the magazine hit the nearby coffee table before a grim trotted his way out of the room, following the young witch calmly as she walked upstairs to the floor where her bedroom was. He watched as the young witch opened her door and he trotted through before she closed the door behind him and walked over to her bed.
"Thank you, Padfoot... today is just getting to be too much." She said as she walked over to her bed, removing her jumper to reveal a light cotton tee shirt and sat down.
Sirius knew what the young witch needed and trotted over to her, putting his head in her lap. Hermione smiled then shifted slightly.
"Move, Padfoot." She said with a small smile and he stepped back. She then slid herself backwards and rotated on the bed until she was lying on her back ready to sleep.
Her bed then shifted as a large weight leapt up and moments later she felt as the large black grim walked between her legs then up spanning her torso until he was lying atop the young witch.
Hermione smiled as the large back canine leaned his head down and "booped" her nose once before lying down atop her, his weight pressing down on her from sternum to pelvis.
"Thank you, Padfoot." She said softly as she closed her eyes, reveling in the feeling of the ninety kilo canine's weight pressing her down, making her feel grounded and letting her let go of the stressors of the day.
Hours later, Ginny opened the door to Hermione's room to find the older witch seemingly smothered underneath a massive grim and smiled softly. The first time she had come across the scene, she hadn't understood what she was seeing, but then after a long conversation with the elder witch she had come to understand. Sometimes the world had come to seem to be too much, and so she needed to feel grounded. And for Hermione, the feeling of being almost smothered by a large canid helped her regain her oneness. It would seem that today had been another trying day... thank Merlin that Padfoot was there to help her feel grounded.
The End.
