Birth of the Rani.
Ushas was looking at her jailer, a Time lord who was ancient by the standards of the Time lady. He was lying on the ground, dead. Stupid people. Worse, the fools had put her under the charge of a man who was in his 12th life.
She looked around the interior of the time and space machine, enjoying the feel of it. One of the latest model time ships of the Time lords.
She bent and picked up the body, pressing one of the controls on the control console, opening the doors of the TARDIS into the vortex, the automatic systems stopping the environment from being compromised.
Strange, she thought as she hauled the body, I didn't realise that a corpse could be so heavy.
Ushas kicked the body out into the vortex, watching as the time winds of the vortex wormhole tore it to shreds. Dispassionately, she walked back to the console and closed the doors.
Ushas knew the Time lords would probably still be looking for her now their watchman was gone and finished. Reaching a decision, she operated the controls, careful not to leave her imprimature imprint on the controls. Setting the navigation systems to a random destination she settled back as the TARDIS changed its course.
Ushas watched the rise and fall and corkscrewing of the time rotor. It would be a while before she could coerce the TARDIS into becoming hers once and for all.
But, it was a start.
Earth. India.
Ushas had enjoying her visit to Earth, India, according to the controls and her own senses.
It was hot and she was enjoying the heat, preferring it to the controlled climate of the TARDIS and the citadel back home on Gallifrey.
In the 3 days she'd been here, she'd learnt a lot of the myths and legends of the country. As she did, she heard a name that meant Hindu Queen.
A name she liked above all else.
Rani.
Yes, she decided, I'll be known as the Rani for the rest of my lifetimes.
The Rani smirked as she walked into her TARDIS. The Timeship had taken to her virtually instantly after she'd landed on Earth.
The Rani started the dematerialisation sequence.
The TARDIS started travelling in the vortex and the Rani was looking forward to seeing new sights and making new and greater discoveries in genetic engineering and neural chemistry.
She started making plans and decisions for the next port of call.
