the
POLO JOURNALS

.

a/n: Ha. Always wanted to write this. :)
Btw, water polo is awesome. If you can't tell by the title of this story. Extremely painful and tiring sometimes, but awesome.
It's like Quidditch.

Dear Journal,

Hi.

. . .

Um, sorry. It's a little strange to write in a journal like this. I've never written a letter before. I mean, a real one. I've never written a real letter before. I did write a few in my elementary school and middle school back in Japan. But I never had a . . . friend to write to. Not really. Well, there was a nice girl named Suki, I think (I don't really know how to spell out Japanese names in English, sorry). But she moved away and

Oh. I wrote too much again. Um. Sorry. I babble a lot on paper, even if Father wanted me to write in English. I'm not really good at English, which is why he wanted me to practice. Since I don't talk a lot, he always tells me, "Hinata, if you can't talk like a normal American girl, then write like a normal American girl. We moved to the United States for your education after all." He says it in Japanese. Father doesn't speak English well, but he likes to hear Hanabi and me speaking it.

I don't think I will have a problem with English used in daily life. I can read and write fluently in my English classes. But it's the . . . it's the school I'm worried about. I'm a little scared for tomorrow. It's the first day of school and . . . Um, a lot of American girls seem very mean on television. They probably aren't that scary but . . . I'm a little scared.

Sorry. I rambled on again. Um, here. A formal introduction.

My name is Hinata Hyuuga. I am fourteen years old. I've moved from Tokyo, Japan, to Konoha, California (do I also need to add "United States" when stating the city name?) exactly seven days ago with my father and sister. Now I live in 360 Byakuugan Avenue, Konoha. This is my new home. Here our family will walk out the shadows of the failed Hyuuga business and live a new life. Tomorrow, Hanabi and I will enroll Konoha Academy, a local public school.

I'm not sure if I wrote this yet, but I am very, very scared.

Sincerely,
Hinata

(P.S. I hope I meet some new friends, even if Father says friends are only good for money. But friends seem very nice in that Glee show I watched.)

(P.P.S. Wish me good luck.)
