So this lovely FF is for my editor who takes care of all my aweful spelling and grammar! She wanted one so I figured I should probably write her one. I DO NOT OWN ANY OF J.K ROWLING's CHARACTERS! I hope you all enjoy!
Waking in the morning I instantly was yet again reminded that my bed this year was the worst one possible. Whose idea was it to have a bed right where the sun hit every morning? Groaning softly I placed my cold feet on the ground. For the spring it was still cold in the morning, reminding us all that winter had painted the castle white not that long ago. As the other girls began to awake I knew it was either get into the shower now or wait for 5 other girls to shower, and they took forever. For witches they took a long time getting ready manually but then again I had it easy as a metamorphmagus, basically I could change my appearance on demand. Still I got out of bed and walked to the shower attached to our bedroom.
I let the water warm while I set about getting out my uniform from the dresser next to my bed. The other's were fighting sleep but Emily peaked her head out of her purple and bronze covers. We made eye contact for a moment before she flopped down onto the bed. I laughed softly as I grabbed the clothes and brought them into the bathroom with me. Getting into the shower I let my muscles relax from the grueling quidditch practice the night before. As a seeker I was constantly getting knocked around and the practice before had been no different from any other time. Even as captian my team mates had no problem kicking my ass. Finally though I moved and went about my business of getting ready for the spring semester and for the day.
Getting out of the shower I emerged changed and letting the next girl in. Usually it went by who was awake in what order so Emily went past me.
"How the hell you get up every day before us is beyond me Scarlette. I wish I was always the first to shower." teased Emily's sister Emma. I just shrugged to her, never being the one to hold a conversation in the morning. Instead I turned to the mirror that hung above my dresser trying to decide what color I wanted my hair. Usually I left it my natural red color but I felt the need for something different. Concentrating I made it a bit shorter but still going past my shoulders and settled on a blonde color. Making it blonde meant I didn't have to change my green eyes. I just didn't feel like doing that today. I waved my wand and curled my hair into ringlets, finally satisfied with my look. Hanging at the end of my bed was my robe so I pulled it on as I got out some socks to wear and slipped on my shoes. I smiled and waved to the girls waiting to shower, shouted to Emily that I would meet her at the table, and left.
The Great Hall was full of more chatter than normal this year seeing as how those that had gone off to fight the war last year were back to finish their schooling. Harry Potter was sitting with Ginny Weasley looking comfortable at the Gryffindor table. The Ravenclaw table was not as crowded as the other tables this early in the morning,we were never known for our early rising. I sat down next to Luna Lovegood and steadily ignored her. Sure she was nice and we talked sometimes but most of the time she was just too weird for me. For her part Luna was reading the Quibbler upside down with a very serious expression. Looking up and down the table I began grabbing things to eat.
Filling my plate with eggs and biscuits I sat back and Emily plopped down across from me. We shared a smile as she poured us both a glass of pumpkin juice.
"When do we face Slytherin in Quidditch? I want to kick some snake ass." Emily was the team keeper and often pumped before the games. She was always in the mood to kick some ass.
"It's tomorrow. We need to get on the pitch today though,I already booked it." I sipped my juice and picked at my food.
"Good. I want to win the quidditch cup. Just make sure you beat Malfoy." Emily pointed her put at me and I rolled my eyes. Besides me Malfoy was one of the top seekers. Since he was back Slytherin had welcomed him with open arms as their seeker thanks to his father giving them new brooms a few years back.
"You think Im going to let that idiot beat me? The grease in his hair has obviously made him deliarious." I chuckled and shook my head.
"Who is deliarious?" asked my boyfriend,Michael Corner, as he sat down and kissed my cheek lovingly. He had dirty blonde hair with blue eyes that riviled my own eyes that were considered nice. I had heard that muggles had competetions in school for such things, how odd it seemed.
"Only Draco Malfoy." Emily replied as she popped a peice of bacon into her mouth and chewed happily. "Who else would possibly have hair that greesey?" She asked around her mouth full of food.
"Well he is a bloody idiot if he thinks he can beat us this year for the Quidditch Cup." He smirked as he ate his food. I was cocky but it seemed he took more pleasure from our wins then I myself did. I loved playing quidditch and sometimes enjoyed bragging about how we won but not as often as Michael. All he could talk about for weeks after a win was how amazing we did,as if he were on the team.
"I'd watch it if I were you Williams." said a voice to my left. I peaked around Michael and met the eyes of Draco Malfoy. It was evident that he had over heard us and I smirked to him.
"Aww,worried Im actually tell the truth?" I asked him. The war had changed very little in Draco, the opposite of what everyone thought it would be. I suspect it's because he felt the need to protect his image somehow and walking away from the war had done anything but that.
"Just don't want such a pretty pureblood getting her hopes up only to fail." He replied with that signature smirk he always wore when thinking he was better than someone. I should know,we were partnered together at the beginning of the year in Tranfiguration.
"Well we will just see,now won't we?" Emily now spoke up with fire in her eyes. If there was one thing Emily loved it was arguing and I suspect that was why we got along so well together. Both of us loved to argue and prove we were the best at what we did. She turned her eyes to me. "Aren't you just shocked that he never falls off the broom with such a big head and all? I find that I am."
"Just watch it." Malfoy said one more time before moving onto the Slytherin table and taking his seat at the head of it. Such an arrogant bastard for someone who had lost everything. Watching him made me want to get up and pound his face in but part of me also thought he was too cute to do that too.
Breakfast went along normally until it was time for me to go to Care of Magical Creatures while Michael and Emily went off to Divination. I think they definatley pulled the short stick in life if that's what they had to look forward to. I kept these thoughts to myself however as I pulled my robe together and fastened it and walked towards the Forbidden Forest. Most students had dropped this class but I found it rather interesting. How muggles could go without such creatures was far beyond me.
"Gather around." Came the gruff voice of one Rubius Hagrid. He was still the Professor of this class and though often nervous was doing much better than in previous years. "Today we will be venturing into the forest and learning about a very advanced source of magic in our world,Unicorns. Most of you have a unicorn hair in your wands or have heard of the properties. Drinking a unicorns blood will ensure a cursed life but one you live forever. It's a horrible thing to do but since we wont be doing that we are safe." Many nodded and followed when he started into the forest. I fell in with some of my fellow Ravenclaws as we made our way into the dark forest.
Stopping deep inside of the forest near a fallen tree he instructed us to take out our books and open to page 254. Opening the book a proud unicorn took up the page. Much like the one that Hagrid was leading from the forest. The creature didn't seem captured,in fact it seemed all too willing. Hagrid went on to explain about the unicorn, whose name was Penny,as the proud creature stood. One by one we went to examine her but it was far before my turn when the rain clouds that had been there all day finally opened up and soaked everyone in an instant. I was glad that while some girl's spell wore off for their curly hair mine stayed in place. Hell yeah, thank god I was a metamorphmagus.
