Incompatible Endearment

To love and be loved is to feel the sun from both sides. David Viscott.

Raven Roth laid down the notebook she'd been working in for the past several hours, sighing in near defeat. The spring of ideas that had been flooding her mind for the past week was suddenly drying out entirely, and she found herself drawing out minute details again and again. Huffing in aggravation, she stood up and stretched out.

Walking to the fridge, she spotted her cat Garfield walking in at the same time, mewing for affection. Reaching for him, she scratched his ears, earning purrs of appreciation as her thanks. She laughed as he wound his way around her ankles, once again mesmerized by the brilliant dark green of his glossy coat.

He mewed again as she poured him food, and she remembered getting him from her friend Richard, a police officer from Jump City who'd married her best friend and one time roommate Kori.

Raven got up and went back into the living room, followed by her loving cat that stayed glued to her almost all of the time. She laughed as he curled up in her lap once she began to write again, and as he looked up at her with large adoring eyes.

Leaning down she kissed the top of the cat's head and began to type again.
