I Have Made My Choice

AN: for an English project we had to take our favorite scene from a movie and write it so it could be a book. This is what I choose. Its a really quick ficlet I have written on the scene where Arwen gives up her immortality for Aragorn. I figured that with all the ROTK stuff going around lets have a little flashback to two years ago with a little story called the Fellowship of the Ring.

This story is dedicated to my friend Sevan who has been a wonderful friend and reviewer the past few weeks.

ARWENS POV

I had led Aragorn down past the gardens to the edge of the forest. We stood there in front of each other on a stone bridge over a small stream. We stood together, our hands clasped tightly in each others in silence until I spoke shyly.

"Renich I lu I erui govannem?"

He smiled at me, remembering that times years ago. I can feel his smile melting my heart as he speaks, "Nauthannen I ned ol reniannen."

I looked up at him. It still amazes me every time how well the elvish speech rolls off his tongue. His deep husky voice mixed with the softness of the language of the elves makes it so shivers run up and down my spine. This is the affect that he has on me. "Gwenwin in enninath."

Gently I reached up and stroked his hair that had partially fallen in his face, then trailing it down his cheek, "U-arnech in heath I si celich." I stared down to my feet before seeing his crystal blue eyes again, remembering everything that I was willing to give up for this man that I loved. Feeling the corners of my lips pull up into a smile I say, "Renech I beth I pennen?"

He did not speak for a few moments as he slowly let out his breath. Looking at me gently he brushed his callused fingers over the Evenstar pendant that hung at my throat. "You'd said you'd bind yourself to me, forsaking the immortal life, of your people."

As he spoke to me I knew what I was going to do was the right choice. I knew that if I listened to my father's orders and left Imladris for the Valinor, my heart would wither away until I was never more than a memory. "And to that I hold." I said when he had finished, "I would rather share one lifetime with you, then face all the ages of this world alone."

I watched him look to our hands as I slowly released his own. Opening his palm, he found the shining necklace that had hung moments before on my neck.

His eyes immediately looked up to me in shock. Before he said I word I whispered, "I choose a mortal life."

As if he thought it was a dream he quickly looked back at the Evenstar then at me, "You cannot give me this."

I smiled. Estel was a stubborn man. I should have known he would try to return it to me. "It is mine to give to whom I will." Staring into his eyes I felt a rush of joy and warmth spread throughout my body, "Like my heart." I tenderly closed his hand over the Evenstar and looked back at his face.

Slowly I leaned towards him, contemplated if this would be the right time, but I never finished my thought. His mouth crashed down on mine, our lips met in the most heart felt and passionate kiss we have ever shared. Sealing my fate that I would follow in the steps of my foremother and live the life of a mortal, to be with the man whom I loved.

END

Sorry its so short, but think about it. that scene was like 45 seconds in the movie, if that. so I got like 2 pages out of it, not bad if I do say so myself. Why don't you review????? Pllleeaassee???
