This poem is full of metaphors. I am not advising anyone to find the nearest cliff and jump off and I am not condoning suicide in any form.
This poem is simply full of imagery that has a deeper meaning. This is about a young girl too conflicted to know what she wants but she listens to her heart rather than her mind or other people and figures out what she wants to do. Cause and effect. Question and answer. Situation and resolution.

P.S. Of course this is is about Mimiru.
Disclaimer: I do not own dot hack or any of its characters although I wished I owned Tsukasa and/or Akichi. (They'd just look so good decorating my room. laughs evilly )

Symphony of Souls
The girl stands on a cliff
The wind against her back
Sending light brown hair
Whipping against her face.
Below her
A symphony of souls heard
In the crash of wave against rock
Sibilant half whispers
Detected by a trained ear.
Most of the voices
Urge her to jump
Others to take a chance.
A few tell her to stay.
Eventually swayed,
The girl closes her eyes
And takes the plunge.
As she falls
Her green eyes open
She shouts something
That is lost to the wind.
A pair of wings sprout
From the center of her back
Spreading to break her fall.
She hovers momentarily
Blessing those voices
Who urged her on..
Then the girl who had
The courage to admit love
Glided away.
