I know, I know... It's very, very short, but it bothered me that neither guy really said what I thought they might be thinking all those months. I wish I owned one of them but a gal can dream...

It's quiet out with just the sound of the gentle waves rolling on the shore before gliding back out again. After telling us the new about the custody arrangement, Danny finished his beer and left to go see Grace. I hadn't seen him so happy and carefree in months and was sorry he left so soon.

The Governor and I each drank two beers and talked before he left. Now I'm alone and realized that what I said to Danny wasn't really what I really wanted to say but with Denning there, I held back.

I won't be able to sleep until I talk to him. Danny's probably already in bed, but I have to tell him, so I turn the light back on, pick up the phone and hit the speed dial. It only rings once before he answers. He still sounds like he is on Cloud Nine and I hesitate only a moment. "Hey, Danny? I just wanted to tell you that..."

Gathering my thoughts, he asks what's wrong? "Well, Denning was here and I didn't..." Danny was silent on the other end waiting for me to finish my sentence.

"I just wanted to tell you, I'm really happy for you, buddy. And it's not just because you and Grace will have more time together, but...but I didn't want to lose my partner and best friend."

I can hear Danny's smile through the phone. "Yeah, babe, I feel the same way. See you tomorrow. Night."

Smiling, I put the phone down and turn the light off knowing that now I'll be able to close my eyes.

Thanks for reading this tiny short thing.
