Thalia and Luke

4th of July was Thalia's favorite holiday. She loved the fireworks, and the noise, and the parties.

Well, not the parties considering her mother always got drunk and left her alone at them.

But the fireworks were cool. This year though she wouldn't be able to sit on a blanket on some hill and watch the community fireworks show. Plus she had to watch Annabeth with Luke.

"Hey, Luke," she said. "You realize the 4th is tomorrow, right?"

Luke shrugged. "I wish we could see fireworks."

"Everyone will be shooting up fireworks, we could just sit outside," Thalia pointed out.

"I heard fireworks," Annabeth said, poking her head out from a pile of blankets she was buried in.

"How'd you like to see fireworks?" Thalia asked, ignoring Luke's glare.

"Will they be good?" Annabeth asked.

"I don't know, sweetie. We'll have to find out."

Annabeth nodded and buried back into the blankets, no doubt going to sleep.

Luke turned to look at her. "You really like the 4th, don't you?"

Thalia nodded. "I used to watch it with my, uh, family."

"Not like your mom was much of a family," Luke noted.

"Yeah," Thalia muttered. She could still remember Jason's awe when he saw fireworks.

"Night, Thals."

"Night."

"Whoa," Annabeth gasped as the first fireworks exploded in the night sky. Thalia completely agreed with her, the way the fireworks shot off on after another and left bright imprints in your vision.

The show went on for a long time, long enough that Annabeth fell asleep, curled up between Thalia and Luke.

"It's been a long time since I've seen fireworks with actual family," Luke said. Thalia didn't protest, their little pack was as much family any of them really had.

Thalia leaned her head on Luke's shoulder and he slung an arm around her shoulders. They both took sharp intakes of breath when the grand finale started, a huge colorful explosion of red, white, blue, green, gold, everything. Luke's face was washed in the colors, and his lips were set in a smile. Without thinking, Thalia leaned over and kissed him. Luke wrapped his arms around her and kissed her back, thank the gods.

When they broke apart they both smiled. The last of the fireworks flashed across the night shy.

"Know I can really say that when we kissed, sparks flew," Luke joked.

"Shut up," Thalia said, hitting his shoulder.

"Anytime, Thals, anytime."

Guess who can't write romantic moments? Thank you for reading this shit.
