There was no point.

There was just no fricking point.

He was Lucifer, the Devil. There was no fighting him, there was no escaping him, there was no blocking him out or forgetting him. And as they were in Hell, there was no promise of death for comfort.

Sam endured because there was nothing else he could do.

He was subjected to every imaginable torture, and a few truly unimaginable ones that must have been only dreamt of by the likes of Lucifer. Those times when Lucifer didn't punch or rip or break, when he got very close to Sam in that way a lover got close, the way women had gotten close to him in the past, all he could really do was suffer through it.

After fifty years of endless time in the cage, Sam was more or less broken. One day, he just decided- I give up. White flag's flying. I don't care anymore: Pride is for the living.

All that mattered was making the pain stop. Make things a little better. A little more bearable. And Lucifer wanted two things from Sam: Too see him suffer, and to get his way.

Sam was already giving him the satisfaction of the first, why not the second?

When Lucifer came at him again and pinned him against something that Sam had to assume was solid, even if he couldn't focus on it and see what it actually was, he thought, Whatever. He wants it, I'll give it to him.

And so he kissed when he was kissed, because Lucifer was still in Nick's form, and when he was grabbed he grabbed back, and when when he was clawed at he clawed back and made every embarrassing, awful noise that, if he still had shame, would have been humiliating.

And Lucifer seemed happy with it. Seemed pleased. It took two to tango, and the dance was always more fun when your partner wasn't just dead weight.

"That was cute, Sammy." Sam sighed. "A nice try, too. But you're not getting off that easy."

The pain started again, and there was just no point.
