Amy Rose walked up to the door of her crush and stood, her legs shaking. Was this really a good idea...? she thought, red roses quivering in her grasp. She looked down at her crimson red dress. Today is Valentines Day, though... Today is the best day to do it. How weird though, she thought again. I'm really nervous about this, even though I'm not nervous when I talk to Sonic... His laid back attitude and relaxed aura is so soothing.
Now, the stakes were higher. Amy gulped. I should knock now... The sooner the better.
She approached the brown wooden door. She was about to knock, when suddenly the door flew open and Sonic stood in front of her, his spines slightly messy from running around, a large bouquet of tulips in his hand.
Just as I'd imagined days ago, Amy thought, her heart sinking. He... He loves someone else.
"Oh! H-Hey, Sonic! I brought you some flowers, haha! I see you already have some, though." Amy smiled as brightly as she could. She couldn't stand to imagine him standing beside anyone else though...
"A-Amy?!" Sonic looked very surprised. He ran his hand through his spines. "Uhm, I was headed to your house, actually."
What?
He was...?
My house?
Amy blinked. "Sonic, what do you mean?"
"I mean these tulips are for you." Sonic handed her the tulips; red, yellow, sunset orange, all the colors of the sky above them were in the tulips. Amy was speechless. She turned as red as her shoes and looked at the flowers. What a turn of events…
She finally found her voice. "T-Thanks, Sonic… I wasn't really expecting…"
Sonic gave her one of his signature grins, turning a bit pinkish himself. "That's great! That was really sudden. I wasn't expecting you either, but this works great! I'm so glad… I could go run, you wanna come?"
"Gosh! I can't run that fast, you know!" (flashback to Sonic Adventure)
"Then here"-Sonic picked Amy up-"Are those flowers for me?"
Amy blushed. "Yeah."
Sonic smiled. "I'm gonna ask you to hold on tight to those for me..." And with that, they were off.
"How long have you liked me?" Sonic asked. "Just wondering."
"Ever since I first laid eyes on you, back when Metal Sonic kidnapped me," Amy said in reply, looking at his emerald green eyes.
"Now you ask me."
Amy was surprised, but she asked anyways: "How long have you liked me, Sonic?"
"Ever since I first laid eyes on you."
There was a moment of silence- and Amy came to the realization that all we efforts weren't in vain. She had Sonic the whole time. And now, he was finally opening up about his true feelings. He was so outgoing, and yet he must've been shy about this, which is why he'd denied it this whole time. Why he protected her from Metal Sonic and rescued her all those times.
They reached Sonic's house again in a matter of minutes. "It's getting late, isn't it?" said Sonic, looking up at the sky that was now as blue as his spines.
"Yeah... I'll... See you tomorrow, Sonic." Amy smiled and turned around to go home, when suddenly she felt Sonic's arms around her. She blushed and turned her head to look at Sonic, his head resting on her shoulder, eyes closed.
He then spoke into her ear, his voice down to a whisper, filled with passion.
"I love you, Amy Rose."
