A/N: The lyrics are sung to the tune of Satisfied. Sorry if it's bad, I tried my best to combine lyrics from Helpless and Satisfied in a way that fit the melody lol. Anyway, woo, first song fic, let's do this!
She observed the guests. Everyone looked content with their food and wine, unaware of her eyes watching them. She observed the surroundings. The tables were covered with white tablecloths, and flower vases adorned each tabletop. Already some of the tablecloths were stained with red wine spilled by some careless soldiers.
Finally, she observed the main spectacle of the evening: the newly wedded couple. They were currently seated at the table in the very center of the room, laughing with some revolutionaries. The groom, a handsome youth with smooth brown hair and twinkling brown eyes, caught her eye and waved. She felt her heart squeeze, and waved back. The groom then turned his attention back to his friend, a man with freckles and curly hair.
She sighed. Of course he wouldn't direct more than a simple hello to her. After all, she wasn't the type to try and grab the spotlight. That was her sister's thing.
She felt eyes on her, and realized the bride had been watching her. The two sisters shared a glance, and she smiled at the bride. Congratulations.
Her sister beamed and smiled back. Thanks. She then turned to plant a sweet kiss on her new husband's cheek. His eyes widened in surprise, before he laughed and kissed her on the lips with fiery passion.
She felt her stomach twist at the sight of them, and looked away, fighting back the tears boiling at the back of her eyes.
Suddenly, the curly-haired man stood up. "Alright, alright!" he called, smirking at the married couple. "That's what I'm talking about!" They both blushed a crimson red, but didn't let go of each other. "Now, everyone!" He looked directly into her eyes. "Give it up for the maid of honor… Elizabeth Schuyler!"
Everyone cheered as Eliza made her way to the center table, and stood before the newly married couple. "A toast to the groom," she said, raising her glass to the young man.
"To the groom! To the groom!" everyone repeated. Alexander smiled fondly at her.
"To the bride!" Eliza continued, ignoring the fluttery feeling in her stomach. She directed her glass to the bride. Angelica cheeks turned pink, and she smiled bashfully as everyone chanted, "To the bride! To the bride!"
"From your sister," Eliza said.
"Eliza! Eliza!" The crowd chanted her name with admiration for the middle Schuyler sister, who was known for her beauty and unwavering kindness.
"Who is always by your side." Eliza swept her arm gracefully around the room. "To your union!"
"To the union! To the revolution!" the soldiers cheered loudly.
"And for you I wish the best…"
"The best! The best!"
"May you always…" Eliza dropped her voice slightly, as if she was silently praying the next line. "...stay helpless."
Somewhere in the back of her head, a quiet voice whispered, "Unless…" Then suddenly, everything around Eliza went black. The only thing surrounding her were haunting voices, their words barely audible to her.
"Unless… unless… helpless… Schuyler… Schuyler… She's satisfied… Satisfied… Rewind!"
I remember that night, I just might… Rewind!
I remember that night, I just might… Rewind!
I remember that night, I remember that-
Then just as suddenly, she was taken back to that night.
