A/N: Yes, this is another drabble collection. But these ones are mostly character studies and stuff like that, so don't expect too much romance - if you like that, Something Called Love, another of my fics, is always open ;)

So. This first chapter is Albus Potter, and next up (because I have some written down) is all about Andromeda Tonks... I'll try to post one every day, but there's no guarantees, as the holidays are over for me on Tuesday :P

And without further ado, here's the first drabble!

Fitting In, or Not: Albus Potter

The paparazzi never seem to love him as much James and Lily, that he knows.

Only an idiot would have not noticed. You see, sometimes, the journalists are occasionally rewarded an interview, an interview of the kids of the Boy Who Lived – and how golden it is, because he's Harry Potter and everyone, everyone loves him. So the press, they come into the Potters' modest house in the Muggle suburbs, cameras and quills and parchment paper in hand.

They interview every member of the Potter family, starting with Harry and Ginny, and moving on to James, Albus, Lily. And here's the truth: the press adore James Potter the Second and his cocky ways, how he can entice a crowd with his words. They adore his wild ways and his rugged good looks – in fact, they use his physical attributes to attract fangirls especially for him, as if his ego needs enlarging.

As for Lily, well, she's just the cutest: curly reddish brown hair, Lily the First's snub nose, freckles and sparkling blue eyes. She seems just about made for the cameras and the press let her play with dolls and storybooks – and when she gets older, they give her makeup and let her experiment. It isn't a surprise when she grows up into a beauty; it isn't a surprise for anything but Harry when he has to shoo away lovesick boys clutching the latest magazines, who show up on his doorstep and try their best to never leave.

And Albus? Well, he tries. He smiles politely for the cameras, he answers the questions. It isn't as if he's shy; he's just not made for this kind of life. He doesn't do well under pressure and he doesn't have much of a verbal filter and he just lacks the charm. Some of the old ladies like his eyes, though, but it's kind of creepy when the only fanbase you really have are women old enough to be your grandmother.

So it's no surprise, really, when he thinks that he's an outcast in his family. It's not as if he's resentful about that, but, shhhh, he'd like a clue or two about fitting in.
