'Just keep going!'
Ed wanted to give up himself. His chest was burning, his feet were aching, and his scar was irritating him. The others may have felt the same, but he didn't really care about them right now. He only cared about fulfilling the promise he had made to Small Sam and keeping them all alive whilst doing so.
Ed, Sam, The Kid and Kyle were all running towards the Natural History Museum. They had left the safety of Dylan's hideout where they had stayed during the night. They had planned it all the night before, whilst watching over Wormwood.
'So, it's settled,' said Kyle earlier that morning. 'We go, and they stay.'
'That's basically it,' Dylan had said. 'Charlotte, Green Man, Macca, Will and I shall stay here, get some rest. While you lot go to the museum.
'Too bad you can't come, Dylan,' Ed had said in disappointment. 'You look like a good fighter.'
'Yeah,' he had replied. 'But, thanks to my stupidity, I can't.' He indicated to his swollen knee.
'Bummer,' Said The Kid. 'Would have been hokey-pokey!'
'You guys had better be heading off. Looks like there's gonna be another storm,' Will had informed them.
And now here they were, running from a whole group of twenty or more sickos. Kyle and Ed had tried to kill a few when they first showed up as a smaller group, but they had to give up as the number of them got too great. So they ran, the grown-ups stumbling behind them. There were more of them coming from the burned out houses and dark alleyways in the area.
'This is bizarre!' Kyle exclaimed. He couldn't have been any louder, and as Ed thought that more grown-ups appeared. 'I know this is the zone, but come on!'
They kept on running. Ed's muscles were screaming for him to stop and take a breather, but he wouldn't allow himself. To stop meant to put himself and the others in danger. So, he kept on going, and ignored the pain all over his body. That was until they saw another pack of sickos coming up ahead of them.
Ed swore.
They didn't stop though. Instead, they took a sharp left and ran as fast as they could down an alleyway. Thankfully, no grown-ups jumped out of the doorways down there. They ended up on a street they didn't recognize, and Ed started to get stressed, causing his scar to irritate him further.
'Shit!' Kyle shouted over the thunder and rain that had only just started to come down.
'Just keep moving!' Ed shouted, not stopping for a second.
He could see the museum not too far away. If they could find the correct route there; they could be there in less than ten minutes. But they were lost, and everyone knew that. Ed was frantically trying to think of something. His A-Z was out of reach at that moment, so he couldn't get it out and take a look.
This was a nightmare.
And it was about to get worse.
