Wrote this up quickly on Tumblr, since I feel that Susan Strong is awesome, and Susan/Finn needs more love.
Disclaimer: I don't own Adventure Time, or make profit from it.
All the background chatter of Beautopia ceased to register to Susan Strong as she saw Finn floating in on a boat, looking small and lonely, and when he stepped up onto the land and toddled over to her, head down like a child, something in her just melted.
"Finn," She murmured, sitting down so she was closer to his height, and she still had to tilt her head down to look into his eyes. He was so small, but so brave and strong, and she had to keep herself from clasping her hands together in dreaminess. "You come back!"
"Susan," Finn started to say. He swalled and bowed his head. His lip started to tremble a little.
"Finn," Susan said. She put a hand to his cheek. SHe squeezed gently as she could, and he still flinched. Susan winced, and said, "What is wrong?"
He just shook his head. "I don't..." He whimpered and stared at the ceiling above them, at the sunlit place far above.
It was not a place, Susan had come to believe, for humanity. Not the mutated remnants that had been called the hyoomans, not the powerful and strong like her, and not (So she thought) for a young and brave hero like Finn. Not even such as him. Humanity's time had passed, and she honestly was not too bothered by that.
It did bother her, seeing Finn shaking and alone.
Her hand drifted down to his chin and tilted his head up. "Finn," she said. Her shoulders rolled, great muscles writhing like serpents, and she hesitated for a moment, but only a moment.
Her face came in and her lips braced gently against his forehead. Long blond tresses slid delicately over his face, brushing against his cheeks and taking away the wetness on his face.
"I can't," he said. "...I can't do it anymore. I just." He sniffled. "Everyone, they don't have time for me anymore. I'm just... all my friends are just getting into trouble or getting messed up because of me." He shook his head again, trembling terribly. "I can't-"
He hugged her, he just launched himself at her and buried his face under her left breast, the side of his face digging into the cloth as he threw his arms around a small quarter of her front (because that was a far as he could reach) and just hugged her and cried.
Her arms descended like pillars of heaven, wrapping safely and securely around him and hugging him back, pulling him off his feet as she stood up and carried him in her arms. "Finn," She murmured. "I here. It is good."
He sniffled, still hugging her, his tiny and weak body so perfectly suited to her massive and strong one.
"Cry," she whispered to him, gentle and firm. "I here for you. I safe for you." She hugged him again.
"Susan?" Finn whispered. "Can I stay?" He swallowed. "Can I stay... with you?"
She hugged him again. She had no idea how old she was, or how old he was, or how this meshed with the old laws of their people, this union for them. She didn't know if his friends would come looking for him, or what had happened to drive him here, or why he was so hurt.
It didn't much matter to her. "Yes," she said, and tilted his head up. Her face lowered and her lips gently brushed on his mouth, and tears of her own fell onto his face.
(The hyoomans gathering around and going 'awwww' rather spoiled the mood, she thought.)
