Author's Note: A different take on things. Joffrey with a hidden soft-side.

Thank you Kazetoame, for your review. I respect your opinion on the character and t.v. show, and am glad you have shared it. Keep in mind this is a fictional story though, and isn't meant to be compared to the book series or television show (I should've mentioned that before), it is merely a fictitious dabbling into alternate versions of its characters. Anyhow, thank you again for reviewing, it was much appreciated.

He had to do it, he thought.

It had to be done.

Every beating, every scolding.

He couldn't allow himself to think twice about it.

No, he wouldn't allow himself to think twice about it.

Joffrey had to make it a point of his to let the whole kingdom think he felt nothing for any one of his subjects; let alone his own queen.

He wouldn't dare let anyone find out.

Not ever.

It would be too much of a risk.

He could never show his soft side to anyone, not even Sansa.

If word were ever to get out about his weak spot for the Stark girl, he would never be respected again.

Not by anyone.

Kings had to be strong.

Efficient.

Steadfast.

They couldn't be vulnerable, or weak.

No one could know of his fault.

Of his 'Achilles heel'.

As much as he hated to admit it - and damn did he hate it - his heart bled for Sansa like a raging waterfall, threatening to drain him of every last bit of hatred that he kept harbored deep within his small, black heart.

It was all her fault, really.

Her and her kindness, and patience, and 'love'.

The three things he himself had never received from anyone before her.

But if she continued to show kindness to him despite the fact that he had never returned it, then so be it.

If she was going to play the part of a wilting rose in his land (or kingdom) of weeds and dead grass, then he would be the thorns that surrounded her.

And he'd never let anyone else touch her.

If she were to be hurt by anyone, it would be him.

And him alone.

Her soft lips and fingertips, would grace him, and him only.

No one else would be allowed the pleasure.

And if anyone were to ever challenge him on the matter; it'd be their head on a spike, not his.

Because weak-link or not, Sansa Stark was still part of his chain.

And was by far, the biggest gem in his crown.

So just like every other priceless piece of jewelry that he owned, he would wear her proudly.
