'Layton two sugars, Luke three and Flora one.' Clive thought to himself, grabbing a handful of sugar cubes. As he was just carefully placing the floral patterned mugs on the tray, he heard a loud knock on the door, causing him to spill Earl Grey all over the counter. As he was frantically dabbing at the spilt tea with a napkin, he heard a run across the landing and Luke shout "I'LL GET IT".

As the young boy clad in blue rushed to the door and pulled it open, he stood there in shock. The person at the door was none other than a young woman in a bright yellow trench coat with dark brown hair, coursing down her back. When she gave Luke a little smile, he knew exactly who she was. The woman in front of him was someone who he had trusted deeply in the past, who he had found out had been betraying him and the professor, someone who had been forgiven for their disloyalty and had implied they would return, someone normally referred to as Emmy.

"Wha- Emmy?!" Luke said in surprise.
"I do hope this isn't a bad time..?"
"Not at all, we were just about to have tea, care for a cup?"
Emmy was surprised at how nice Luke was treating her, especially after she had betrayed him like that.
"Don't mind if I do, I need to discuss something with you and the Professor anywa-"
"CLIVE, EXTRA TEA FOR GUEST" Luke shouted, causing clive to spill another mug. "Do come in Emmy." And he led her into the living room.

As she entered the olive-green painted room, Layton looked up from the book he was reading. His eyes widened as he saw who it was.
"Why, Emmy?" He gaped as she gave him a little smile. "Do have a seat." Emmy sat on the nearest chestnut coloured leather sofa. Luke seating himself on the other sofa, next to Flora. "So what brings you here?" The Professor asked. Emmy sighed lightly
"I would like to return to my position as your assistant."

Layton blinked at her, wondering if he'd heard her wrong "I know," she continued "that what I did will never be forgiven. But," she looked up at him, dead in the eye "Being your assistant has always been a great honour, I talk about my adventures with the two of you a lot. One time, a friend of mine simply asked 'if you had so much fun, why don't you go back?' It was when she said that, I realised I should probably ask myself the same question. I have and always will be guilty, but I want to be working with you two. Deny my offer if you wish, but bear my words in mind." Layton remained silent for a couple of seconds, then began chuckling.
"Emmy," he said "welcome back"

Emmy was relieved that she had been entirely forgiven and silently promised not to let them down again.
"So, who's this?" Emmy asked, nodding briefly to Flora.
"Ah yes, you haven't met. This is Flora." Flora gave some form of a wave and Emmy smiled in return.
"Little young for your taste, eh Professor?" Emmy said with a chuckle. Before Layton could explain his relation to Flora, Clive walked in with the tea tray.

"Ah yes, tea. What took you so long?" The professor asked
"There were some, spillages, professor." He replied, looking Luke in the eye. As he handed out mugs, his eyes wandered towards Emmy. "Eh? Who's this prof?" He asked, not taking his eyes off her.
"My assistant, Emmy" He replied, sipping his tea. Emmy simply smiled at the good-looking young gentleman.
"The name's Clive" he said, winking and handing her tea. As he sat down next to her, she decided that this job would be a lot more exciting than she had originally planned...
