From: Alice To:

Dearest Bella,

Hi! How are you? Staying clear of the emergency room, I hope? Sorry my family and I haven't been at school lately…you know how it is. Nice weather and all that. We have been spending a lot of time outside, enjoying the sunshine. I hope you have not been locked up inside the whole time doing homework!

We were running through the forest—such a lovely forest!—and as I breathed, I caught the scent of such greenery and life! The forest is certainly full of life. Well, we finally reached a spot in the forest where the sun shone through freely and lay in it, or read, or whatever else. You know, just hanging out, as the popular saying goes.

Oh! Did you see the meteor shower last night? It was amazing! So beautiful! I spent all night watching it. (I didn't end up getting my homework done. That's ok, though. I'll do it tonight.). I was outside when it started, and I raced inside to get my paints and canvas. By the time the meteor shower had finished, I ended up with a very nice painting. It is sitting and drying in the library as I type this. You simply must come over some time and see it. I think I captured it pretty well.

I suppose I should go…

Oh! I almost forgot!

Bella, why did you not tell me that humans do not complement each other on their smells? To make a long story short, I commented on it cheerfully to a woman on a bench, and her mouth and eyes became the strangest shapes…when the bus came, she was the first one on. It was a complement! Her blood did smell nice! I don't remember anything from my human life, Bella, so you need to tell me about all of your kind's quirks, so that I do not make a fool of myself. You don't mind me complementing your smell, do you? I'm sorry if it does; I don't mean anything by it.

Again, I really look forward to seeing you again. Maybe we'll play some baseball again? Maybe this time, it will be just my family and you? We'll make a whole day of it! Lunch and all...I'll bring some stuff you probably eat.

Please do email me back!

I love you lots!

Your sincerest friend,

Alice Cullen
