Just a Dream- Carrie Underwood

It was two weeks after the day she turned eighteen

All dressed in white, going to the church that night

She had his box of letters in the passenger seat

Sixpence in her shoe. Something borrowed, something blue

Gabriella Montez drove into the parking lot of the local church. Her boyfriend of three years, Troy Bolton, had joined the military shortly after they got out of high school. She looked over at the box that was seated next to her, it was full of love letters he wrote her everyday since he's been gone. She sighed heavily and got out of the car and walked up the path towards the church.

And when the church doors opened up wide

She put her veil down trying to hide the tears

Oh, she just couldn't believe it

She heard the trumpets from the military band

And the flowers fell out of her hand

As the doors opened up in front of her, she couldn't help herself as her tears started to gently make their way down her face. Gaby didn't want to cry anymore but she knew that was impossible. She saw the coffin up ahead and she heard the band playing softly in the corner, she just couldn't take it anymore she dropped the flowers that were in her hands and broke down into a full sob.

Baby why'd you leave me why'd you have to go

I was counting on the forever now I'll never know

I can't even breathe

It's like I'm looking from a distance standing in the background

Everybody's saying he's not coming home now

This can't be happening to me

This a just a dream

Gabriella silently hoped this was just a horrible nightmare and that she would wake up to a beautiful day, and have Troy standing there smiling down at her. But that was too late now. Looking up, she saw the other people sadly saying, "He's not coming home now." that only made her worse.

The preacher man said,

"Let us bow our heads and pray: Lord please lift his soul and heal this hurt"

And then the congregation all stood up and sang

The saddest song that she ever heard

And then they handed her a folded up flag

And she held on to all she had left of him

Oh, and what could've been

And then the guns rang one last shot

And it felt like a bullet in her heart

When they handed her that flag, she held on of dear life. The guns rang their last shot, and hearing it made heart break to even more pieces. After the ceremony was over, she walked slowly outside to get some fresh air. As she looked up into the big blue shy she could've sworn she saw something or someone looking down at her but the second they made eye contact, it disappeared.

A\n: I'm like crying right now!!

That was like really depressing to write!
