Somewhere Out There
Fuji tapped his pen incessantly on a large study booklet Tezuka had picked up from their cram school.
"Te-zu-ka," he said in a relaxed singsong voice.
Tezuka acknowledged him with a grunt.
"Tezuka, do you believe in life on other planets?"
"I don't believe that we are the only intelligence in the galaxy."
Fuji spun his pen before poking Tezuka in the middle of his cheek.
"You didn't answer my question. You answered the question, 'Do you believe that there is intelligence out there'."
"Same question, Fuji."
"Not true! There can be life without intelligence."
Tezuka paused and looked pensive, "Ah, yes, I had completely forgotten about your home planet, Fuji, I'm sorry," and he looked back down to continue his work.
Fuji reached over and shoved him, "Shut-up, you bastard!"
