Change Of Heart
This wasn't where he wanted to be. Yu Kanda crossed his arms and looked away from the wedding. He had initially refused to attend the wedding but finally accepted when he just couldn't stand hearing Lavi's annoying voice anymore. That guy had come to his doorstep every day and stubbornly followed him around everywhere, unrelenting. After the third day, Kanda finally gave in, just so that Lavi would leave him alone.
And that was why he was here, attending the wedding. Lavi's and Lenalee's wedding. After getting bored of staring at the couple, Kanda let his eyes wonder to the musician that was playing the piano. It was Allen. Kanda snorted but continued looking anyway. Allen still looked like an old geezer, but he had definitely grown taller. Not enough to be taller than Kanda, but enough for his age. Then, Allen finished playing his melody. That marked the end of the wedding. Everyone clapped for Allen as he stood and bowed. Kanda caught Allen's eyes for a moment but swiftly averted his gaze, absentmindedly looking at the roses.
After the clapping had died down, the wedded couple moved from table to table, shaking hands with their guests. Kanda planted his feet firmly on the ground and stood up. He straightened his suit and paid no heed to other people's gazes, making a move to leave. Suddenly, a gloved hand grabbed his arm and Kanda had to pause. He turned his head around and found himself gazing into silver orbs.
"You're going?"
The question hung in the air as Kanda contemplated whether an answer was necessary or not. He hadn't expected anyone to stop him.
"Yes."
Disappointment seemed to fill Allen's eyes and the hand that was holding Kanda's arm fell limply to his side. An "Oh" resounded through the wedding hall as Kanda continued where he left off. However, Kanda decided that he wanted to do one last thing before he left. He walked to where the bouquets of flowers were placed and picked a white rose from a bouquet. Then, he made his way towards Allen, letting a grin take the place of his usual scowl. Handing the rose to Allen, Kanda noted that there was a slight tint of red on the younger boy's cheeks.
"It was nice seeing you again." At those words, Allen seemingly blushed harder.
Maybe attending the wedding wasn't such a bad idea after all.
I'm sorry for being away for so long! It's just that I was busy here in Korea(Yes, I'm Korean. But I'm only here for a holiday.), and couldn't find the time to write my other stories. Since Kanda's birthday is coming up soon, I decided to do a one-shot. Happy (early) Birthday, Kanda! And I hope you readers enjoy this short story!
