This might be part of a series involving English things. Like, Metaphors, Similes, Hyperboles, ect. Haven't decided yet.

Disclaimer: Don't own them…

Enjoy!

Green eyes met green eyes; it was another stare off between the two. It was so normal by this point that no one passing by the break room really took any attention to it. It was just another argument about stupid stuff to join Calleigh and Ryan's long list.

They'd been… non-dating… for about a month now and they had at least one argument a day.

Calleigh let out a huff, "Forget it."

"That's what you say every time. 'Forget it.' We just keep coming back to it," Ryan replied, still standing his ground.

"Then maybe you should stop bringing it up!" Calleigh picked her defense right back up.

"I didn't bring it up you did!" Ryan responded in a harsh tone.

Back to the staring match they went, green eyes connected back to green eyes. It was once again Calleigh that broke the lock.

"I don't mean to bring it up," she said softly, her eyes focused on the floor.

He dropped his tone also, "Then why do you?"

Calleigh sighed and walked over to the refrigerator that was in the break room. She opened it and removed an egg, one of the random objects that could be found in there, out. She walked back over to Ryan and took his hand, holding it palm up, and set the egg in it.

"This," she motioned to the egg, "This egg is my heart. You have it right there, in the palm of your hand. Now, you have some choices. You can play with it. See how much fun you can have without breaking it. You can hold it there, at a distance, protecting it some, but not completely. You can hold it here," she moved his hand close to his heart, "and protect it complete. Or, with one simple move," she pulled his hand back away from and closed it into a fist, smashing the egg, the yolk running though his fingers, "you could completely crush it."

Ryan looked at his not egg covered hand and then back at Calleigh, "And you're afraid the last one's going to happen."

Calleigh bowed her head and nodded, "Yeah."

"Well, personally, I like the third one the best. Holding it right here," he moved his not egged hand by his heart.

Calleigh looked at him and a small smile appeared on her face, "Good."

Ryan pulled Calleigh into a hug, both being careful not to get the egg on the others back.

Meanwhile, Eric walked, "So, you two hugged and made up?"

They both let out a small laugh and nodded, "Yup."

Eric looked at the two, "Ryan, why do you a broken egg in your hand?"

"Metaphor," Calleigh smiled.

Eric just nodded and walked out of the room.

Ryan turned and looked at her, "Next time, let's not use such a messy metaphor."
