A Lover Like the Autumn
When I look at you,
I see the autumn.
I see it in the way your
robes of red flutter,
like fallen leaves from
the tired trees;
in the way your
golden eyes glow,
like the blazing sun
at an early dusk.
The summer wind,
once warm and soft,
now bearing the first
signs of winter's bite
makes me think of
your soft touch;
sending excited shivers
creeping up my spine.
I have a lover
like the autumn,
blustery, bold, full of
strength and yet so gentle
even as the season of
our lives still change.
Gone is the spring
of our naivety,
the vibrant summers
of our youth.
In your eyes, I wish
to stay in stunning fall,
lost in the fiery leaves
and striking sunsets.
Protected from the biting
cold of lonely winter.
Drowning in the arms of
my beloved autumn lover.
