Okay, so this is my first Chuck fanfic. The finale was amazing, and I had this idea about Sarah and her cold feet thing. I just really like Sarah as a character, and how him warming her feet to me was important. I hope you guys like it!
Disclaimer: If I owned Chuck, we all know that there would be so much more.
She'd started noticing it not too long ago.
Her eyes opened in the dark of the night, her body suddenly aware how cold it was in the room, especially her feet.
Before him, before this, she would have just let it be.
She would have been used to being alone, having that cold. That cold was often what kept her alive in her line of work. It defined her, having that cold to protect her. She would have just lied there and gone back to sleep, resisting her body's urge for warmth.
Now, the cold was unbearable.
She closed her eyes and used her right arm to feel around the left side of the bed, but there was no warmth. He wasn't home yet.
They wanted to quit this spy life. They wanted that house with the red door and white picket fence. Chuck wanted that for her. For them. For their future maybe-babies.
At this time though, they were still free-lance spies. Chuck and Casey had gone out on a mission and left her and Morgan behind this time. It was a two person security job, and even though she'd monitored most of it from Castle, Morgan had eventually persisted that she go home. She'd tried to argue, but the mission was going well, and he was apparently 'still on a buzz' from some Call of Duty get-together he, Chuck, and Devon had been having when the mission came in, so he was fine with staying up another 2 hours or so.
She heard the door quietly open and close, and Chuck slinked into the room, slowly getting ready for bed and trying not to wake her.
"Hey," Sarah whispered, hoping not to scare him.
Chuck's eyes got a little wider, but he just smiled apologetically. "Did I wake you up? Am I that bad at being stealthy?"
"No, I was already up. How'd the mission go?"
"Not bad. There were a few non-lethal strikes here and there, and maybe we had to use the back-up escape plan, but everybody lived and we got paid." He shrugged and crawled into bed with her.
"That's good. Glad you're home." She smiled and draped an arm around his abdomen, scooting closer into his side and laying her head on his chest.
Chuck jerked slightly at her touch. "Baby, you're freezing." He chuckled and hugged her close, mingling his feet with hers.
She loved this. This was the warmth. Not just the physical heat, but the feeling she got whenever he was with her. He took away the cold. She would never forget he'd done that for her.
Yeah, I was trying to be a little ironic at the end there. Hope you liked. Please review and give me your opinions!
